Y/n's POV
You plated the warm soup and handed it to Gilda so she could give it to the children waiting for their dinner, or... lunch... It's hard to tell when you are in a cave you thought to yourself looking up at the cave roof, it showed no signs of caving in we were safe... for now... Emma and Ray seemed to trust the two demons, Mujika and Sonju.
"Thank you for the food!" Everyone said with a smile and dug in, the soup was warm and delicious, We haven't had a meal like this in a while... You happily ate the food, the children flowing. After we ate we set up our beds along with a few new blankets the two demons had given us just in case some of us got cold.
"Let's go," Ray said, all the children had fallen asleep and the halls were spacious and cozy, and we headed down to the eating area, all three of us.
Sonju sat at the fire his back facing us, "So you're still awake?" He asked and turned his head to face us, the light from the fire shining on his mask, "Can we talk now?" Emma who was right next to you asked, "Can't see why not." Sonju said and turned his head to face the fire that lighted up the room, "You three running around last night and didn't sleep properly, yes? You should stay put and rest until you recover fully." Sonju said he was calm and you could sense no threatening movements, you let out a sigh and eased up.
"Thank you," Emma said with a grateful smile
"And also... I'm sorry for having doubted you... Even though you two saved us from them..."
"I just assumed that all demons were eating humans... It didn't even cross my mind that some might be friendly..." Emma said telling the truth.
"Don't worry. you have a good reason to be skeptical. Human meat is something of great value to MM, 'Demons' The brain above all" Sonju said and continued, "Those like us are awfully few. Most 'Demons' with droll at the sight of your flesh, and crave to sink their teeth in it. you do well in assuming they're all out to eat you." he said
"Then, why are you two..." Ray started asking "Faith. Our religion is against the eating of human beings." Sonju said and continued to feed us information,
"Only human beings, however. other than humans, I can eat anything," Sonju said
"..."
"We're what society calls 'heathens'. They who own the farms... and their ideology, their authority, their entire enterprise ... I couldn't care less for the whole of it. just keep me out of it." Sonju said He was now facing us.
"The reason why I've saved you, humans, is simple curiosity. It's been quite some time since I could have a nice talk with your kind... " Sonju said, we all sat around him soaking in everything he said with serious looks
"How unusual indeed... These days, It's a rare opportunity to see living humans even on the plantations, much less..." Sonju said and looked at us, "What's the matter? I'm sure this is what you came here for." Sonju said, he seemed under the assumption that we came to know why they saved us sure, it was a nice piece of information but we came to ask another question,
"Could you... tell us, please? What happened to humanity 30 years ago? What's going on with the world?" Emma asked, Then, a pause,
"Nothing. Nothing in particular." Sonju said quite casually
"Hm?" You asked, What did you mean??? Nothing in particular???, You were confused
"30 Years, eh... I've no idea how you came up with that number, But... The world has been like this for a long, long time" The red-haired demon said, This doesn't make any sense...
"What do you mean?" Emma asked, she was as shocked as you were.
"Could it be..." You said looking down, "This isn't earth at all?" You said looking at Sonju, "Huh?" Emma asked looking behind her to face you,
"If this isn't earth... It would explain the absurd biology we have been seeing..." Ray said, he seemed to be thinking the same thing as you.
"Nay." Sonju said, I see... "The calendar then? The dates we're a lie, too? We're not in 2046 at all but, but much-" Ray said trying to make sense o the situation "Nay." Sonju said rather abruptly, "We're on planet earth, yes, and precisely in the year 2046. Well, according to a certain human reckoning, at least." Sonju explained, "But then, Why...? How...?" Emma questioned,
"I'll tell you the stories of old. When the world was much bigger than it is today. It was a great wide world indeed. Back then, there were no 'Plantations'. The land was huge and full of humans... and the 'demons' could just prey on them and survive. The 'demons' were the hunters... and the humans, the hunted. Some humans feared those beings and some worshiped them. Others grew vengeful and they themselves became the hunters. In fear of being eaten, these humans ended up killing large swathes of 'demons'... Who, in turn, started to actively begrudge the human race, too. Endless massacres ensued. Both sides lived in terror. Finally, when neither one could bear the destruction any longer, a proposal came from the human side. 'We shall make a treaty as follows: Human beings shan't hunt demons anymore. in return, demons shan't hunt humans either. This world we live in shall be divided between both' Said the humans. yes, that's when it all started... with that promise. The ancient contract between human beings and 'demons'. sealed so long ago. It was to fulfill the promise that the world was divided... and severed into two. we live in the half allotted to the 'demon' side back then... So no, nothing in particular happened here. this place never belonged to humans. Incidentally, you, the plantation children, are... a parting gift left behind by you ancestors, when they fled the demon side" Sonju explained, No...
"Left... Behind...?" Ray asked

Two worlds... Split? No way! But... That explains it... the bizarre ecosystem... and why he said it's rare to see live humans, especially outside the farms... And it also explains how mom could've been plantation-born when she was born in 2014... 30 Years? We've been fooling ourselves... This world has belonged to the demons... For a long time! Our worst-case... The worst case is if there's no place at all for humans to live in this world. We all looked at each other and smiled
"Y/n... Ray..." Emma said "yeah..." You said,
"Oh, Yes! We can do it!" Emma yelled and jumped up with a smile on her face, "Yesss!" You said with a happy smile almost matching Emma's,
"Hm?" Sonju questioned but we didn't pay attention to him,
"It's worst case, but!!! But!!! But then, after that..!" Emma said "Right! A lot's still up in the air, But the situation's way better than I could've ever expected!" You yelled with a happy face "There is a place for humans, after all! There's another world somewhere, and it's safe from demons!!" Emma said happily "Yeah!" You agreed "We have a reason to go back for Phil and the others somewhere to take them!" Ray said
"...Ah... No... I hate to ruin your hopes, but..." Sonju said gaining our attention, "there's no way to cross into the human world. The pathways were completely shut down. 'There shall be no crossing from either side.' That rule was also part of the contract meaning-" Sonju tried to say, But... "It's ok. we'll find a way." Emma. Emma always finds a way to bring hope into every situation. She'd do anything for her family. You smiled, there's no point in telling Emma we can't save everyone.
"We just gotta find out how to cross over. that small detail's not stopping us," Ray said "Yeah, once Emma makes a decision there's no point in telling her we can't do it." You said,
"Thanks, Sonju! I feel better now!" Emma said with a smile,
"Is that so..? Well, that's good then..." Sonju said he seemed slightly confused. "It's already much too late. Go sleep" Sonju said, "Ok!" Emma agreed happily
"Starting tomorrow... We'll teach you how to pass through this forest, at least. Under our guidance, you'll be sure to leave it safely." Sonju said,
"Thank you so much! have a good night!" Emma said and... with that, We went to bed.

Hello friends! I would just like to remind everyone that I'm going entirely off the manga so many things are different from the anime, there will be different characters and many other adventures... if I write that far and don't get bored/tired of writing this... yeah so, if you haven't read the manga then I recommend reading it or getting the story from this but I'm sure some of the things that happen in here may or may not actually happen in the manga and will be some little cute parts of the story.
