Griffin's head popped into the hallway of the headmaster's chambers, his mouth in a grim line and his eyes glowing. What was his problem?

He walked towards us in a hurry, then headed towards the door. "There's warriors from the Alpha King here. I need to leave." Griffin said quickly. He looked back towards Cyrene, then me. "Amory, stay with Cyrene while I go check the situation." How did he know that there were warriors here? What did that even mean?

"What's going on?" I asked Cyrene. She glanced from Griffin back to me, then back to Griffin again.

"What? You're just going to leave us?" Cyrene asked. Griffin's gold eyes glowed even more before he headed to her. His hand traveled around her waist and he brought her up for a quick kiss.

"I trust Amory. I've seen her fighting on the field." I saw his eyes travel over to me, then back to Cyrene. A small slice of confidence bursted in my chest.

"Do we know why we're here?" She asked.

"That's what I'm going to find out, Love."

"Stay safe." Cyrene whispered. I saw the couple touch heads and had to look a way. It was too precious of a moment for an outsider to see.

"Amory, keep her safe." I turned around and saw Griffin walking out of the room. I didn't even know what was happening. Why was it so important that the Alpha King's men were here. Was it because of Cyrene and Griffin being true mates? Did word get out? But how...

I was so stupid.

Bali. I had told told her about my beliefs of Griffin and Cyrene being mates, even the beliefs about my mother and my Father. But that didn't make sense. Kano's parents were supposedly mates too, so why would Bali rat out somebody else. Were they after me instead? That didn't make sense either. It had only been a few days since I got into the fight with Bali, word couldn't travel that fast.

Then I remembered my book, and the fact that I left it in our dorm. The dorm where Bali still was. But she wouldn't do that... would she? Word still shouldn't have been able to travel that fast.

My mind flew through so many options on what to do that I felt momentarily stunned.

Small broken cries were heard around the little hallway, and I looked at Cyrene to see her form hugging herself. I didn't know how to comfort her at all. On top of that, I didn't know where Kano was.

I quickly walked over to Cyrene, remembering that she was crying and engulfed her in a small hug. My mind began to reel with the things I needed to do to keep us safe if push came to shove.

"Cyrene, why would the Alpha King send warriors here? What if it's all just a false alarm and their just checking something out?" I asked her while rubbing her arm. "I need you to tell me so I know who their after."

"I-I don't know. The only reason the Alpha king would send his men is if their were speculation of a mate pair from the moon goddess." Her words came out quickly. I took one hand away from her and began to rub the back of my neck.

"So there's either speculation about Kano and I or you and Griffin?" I asked and she nodded.

"Griffin and I are under the radar... which means it's probably about you. When they do these hints they only go after the female. The male is very hard to take down, they're the power house and have the capabilities to control others, especially if they're an Alpha. The female on the other hand... your the vulnerability." She was straight forward.

I thought over her words and then felt a very stupid, ludicrous idea hit my head. "If I... If I were to leave, would that make them come after me instead of being around the Academy and watching you guys?" My eyes locked in on her's. I couldn't imagine me bringing any harm to Cyrene, she was now like a mother for me. She laughed with me, told me stories, treated me like I was someone important to her. She was nothing like my own mother. In fact, it was hard to consider my mother and her being actual friends.
