I checked out after breakfast, lying to Jaxon and saying that I was still a bit tired. The truth was that I didn't want to see Kano when he got here, for my wolf and I would probably go through another round of grief.
The only problem was that I didn't have an excuse to stay in my room the whole time I was here, and I already had a bad impression on Jaxon's mother, the Alpha. She probably thought I was a lazy good for nothing just like my Father.
Maybe I should just stay cooped up in my room reading a book? But I also didn't have a book, so that would mean I needed to get one from the library. I sighed, getting my self out of my bed and heading towards the hallway door. I sort of remember the way to the library, but not really since I was half asleep when they gave me the first tour of the place.
I opened the door slytly, sniffing to see if anyone was around. When I didn't smell anyone, I took off in a speed walk through the hallways to get towards the library. My nose started to pick up some scents the closer I thought I was getting to the library, which alarmed me.
I got lost in my panicked thoughts before I bumped into someone hard, making myself fall back. When I didn't hit the floor, I sighed in relief, and looked up at whatever stopped me.
It was Jaxon. His sturdy arms were around me, gripping my waist and pulling me up to my feet. "Sorry Amory, didn't mean to be in your way." He said softly. His hand stayed on my waist which didn't go unnoticed by me.
"That's okay, I was the one speed walking." I spoke timidly. "Do you mind telling me the way to the-."
"Hey Amory." The voice was as rough and hot as I remembered. His name coming off of my lips ignited deep feelings within my wolf that made me anxious.
"Library?" I continued my words and ignored him, hoping that I wouldn't be able to see him or his eyes.
"I'll take you." Kano cut in. I still didn't turn to him.
"Could you take me?" I asked Jacob with a pleading look.
"Yeah I'll show you-."
"Jaxon," I heard Alpha Isla's familiar voice. "We need to look over the building of the festivities. And by we I mean you and I." Jaxon closed his eyes in annoyance then sighed. "You can hang out with Amory later, promise. But Alpha duties come first." Oh, so Jaxon was training to become an Alpha. His mother actually sounded sincere when she said my name. It surprised me.
Maybe Jaxon has told her some things about me.
"Sorry Amory." He took my hand and held it to his chest. "I'll be right back after I get back from my duties. The library is two hallways down then to your right." He pointed and I nodded. He then let go of my hand and went with his mother.
I quickly turned around, not giving Kano even a spare glance as I headed to where I thought would be the library. I knew Kano was following since his scent was right behind me, but I didn't know why.
When I surprisingly found the library, which was much smaller then the one at the Academy, I quickly tried to hide between a row of books and skim through the book section to make myself look busy. It didn't work though, since Kano wasn't that far away from me in the first place.
I quickly grabbed a book, pretending to read it and ignore Kano.
"Amory." He called out to me, his rushed steps leading him to be right behind me. "Amory." He called out again. I ignored him, digging my head even further into the book. "The book is upside down, Amory." He whispered in my ear, causing me to shiver.
"What do you want?" I answered with an attitude and flipped the book back to the way it was supposed to be to hide my embarrassment.
""Why are you here? I thought you were going to stay with Cyrene and Griffin over fall break." Was it a 'Moon Thanks' break or just a fall break? I would never know. Maybe it was both.
