Chapter 15:
[Mikey's POV]
It was way too early but I had to go to school on time today because we have an important test or something, I wasn't really paying attention. Anyway, I was on the way to school when I saw some weird girl swimming around the riverbank.
"Is she some sort of crazy person?" I mumbled to myself as I rested my arms over the metal barrier of the bridge and watched her roam around, it looked like she was searching for something.
Also, she looks familiar,
"Haru-chan, is that you?!" I called out to the girl wandering around the river, she turned to look at me, and it was indeed Haru.
She looks exhausted, you could see by how she moves and the look on her face that she's been going at this for a long time.
She then smiled weakly and waved at me.
"Good morning!" She greeted cheerfully despite being exhausted.
"What are you doing? You're going to get sick!" I told her,
"Don't worry about me, I accidentally dropped something in the river, I'm just looking for it," She answered,
...
I told Haru to go home and get some rest but she said whatever she dropped it was important to her so she'll continue to look for it some more.
I can't help but feel worried about her,
Maybe Ken-chin and I should go help her look after class.
Does Ken-chin even know what Haru is doing?
"Ken-chin, good morning!" I greeted Ken-chin as he entered the classroom looking gloomy as ever.
"You're early," He told me,
"I saw Haru wandering around the riverbank on my way here, she looks like she's been there a while," I told him, "She said she's looking for something important, let's go help her look for it!"
"Let her be," He sounded like he doesn't care, why is he so bitter with Haru? Is he still blaming her for Emma's death?
[Haru's POV]
I've been at this for hours but I still couldn't find it.
"It must have drifted off already," I said, completely losing hope that I'll ever find that ring again.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time. I was already an hour late for school, I quickly went home to get freshened up and headed to school, I can't afford to miss another day given my long absence when I was depressed and in reform school.
I guess I'll try to look for it again after class,
It was homeroom when I arrived in school, so basically, the teacher just told us to study or something.
As I entered the classroom, I was greeted by the one and only Ikeda Sakura.
"Haruka-chan~!!!!" She chimed, "We have some great news for you! So you know Tamago-kun, right?"
"The school chicken?" I said, and her little henchmen nodded,
"You see, Class 2-D is in-charge this week of taking care of little Tamago, so since you're new, we thought that you should do it," She said as she handed me the bucket of chicken feeds.
Tamago was the school pet, classes take turns every week to take care of him like cleaning his pen and feeding him every day after class.
"Just me? But I have work after class," I told her, I must be stupid for saying that because that pissed her off.
