Chapter 23: Middle School Graduation

Chapter 23: 

"Mikey," I was in shock to see Mikey standing before us,

"How long have you two--," Mikey began to ask,

"A few--," Draken was about to answer but I cut him off before he could finish his sentence,

"We aren't together," I interrupted Draken, "I-- uhh--, I confessed to him but he said he still loves Emma, I couldn't take 'no' for an answer so I kissed him," I lied to Mikey, completely embarrassing myself and making myself look pathetic.

"What?" Mikey was so confused, "Well, I didn't expect you to be the aggressive type Haru-chan," he chuckled,

"I'm sorry for doing that, I'll leave," I told Draken as I bowed down apologetically towards him and tried to walk away,

"Wait, Haru!" Draken called out to me, "Mikey, I'll take her home, let's talk later," I heard Draken tell Mikey and he then followed after me.

I was a little surprised he was going to admit to Mikey we've been together for a few months now, but I know he's only doing it for me, deep down he wasn't ready for others to know about it.

"Haru, why did you tell Mikey that?" Draken said as he caught up to me, 

"I... don't know," I responded, "I guess, it's because you didn't want anyone to know about us before, you have your reasons why you didn't want to tell anyone and I respect that. You don't have to force yourself if you don't want to,"

"I'm sorry," He said with a sad look on his face, "I kind of told Mikey at Emma's funeral that I'll never see other girls and that I'll only love Emma,"

"I figured," I answered lowly, "I'll respect how you'll do things, I just have one condition,"

"And what is that?" He asked,

"Mitsuya, Pah and Peh are my only friends in school," I started off, the way his face changed when I mentioned Mitsuya, I already know he wasn't happy with my condition, "I cannot 'not be friends' with Mitsuya, I still want to be friends with him," I told him, I really like hanging out with Mitsuya, he has always been supporting me even when Draken isn't.

"Fine," He said, you could hear it from his tone he wasn't happy with it at all but he has to agree with my condition if he wants to try again.

We then headed to the cemetery to visit Emma as I promised, Draken squatted down in front of the Sano family grave and placed the lit incense in front of the gravestone.

I sat down formally beside him and clasped my hands together to pray.

After a short prayer, since I was already on my knees, I placed both my hands on the floor in front of me and sincerely bowed to the Sano family grave.

"I'm sorry, Emma-chan," I apologized, "I'm sorry if I made you upset, I'm sorry if you got hurt because of me, and I'm sorry you had to go through 'that' because of me," I said, referring to her murder. "I want to take care of Draken, I want to be the one to look after him and love him,"

"Haru--," Draken seemed to be surprised with what I said, 

"I promise you, I'll do everything I can to make him happy, I'll do everything I can so he will never feel lonely again, I want to be the person to love Ryuguji Ken," I said with my head still resting on the back of my hands as I bowed. "I'm sorry, but I promise I'll do my best for him,"

"Emma, I'm in good hands," I heard Draken say,

"You caved in so quickly," Mitsuya teased, we were out together doing our weekly groceries and I told him about what happened the other day.
