As Easter was approaching and Mary's illness could not be cured, today we were planning a "good bye" party for Mary. In our surprise many people volunteered to help us. I guess Mary made quite many friends here. But when I got there, first of all I wanted to talk to Gilbert, that he's been avoiding me, and the thing that Anne mentioned. I knocked and some lady that I was seeing for the first time opened the door. "Hello. You must be Elizabeth Mary was talking about. I'm Jocelyn, and this is Constance" She said "Hello" Constance said "We are Mary's laundry sisters" Jocelyn said "Nice to meet you." I said "Hi Lizzie" Suddenly Gilbert appeared here and approached me "Hey" I said "Could you come a sec, we need to talk." He asked "Yeah, yeah we do." I said and he looked at me kind of confused as if he didn't expect me to say that. After we went to his room he asked. "So what did you wanted to talk about?" "Well you asked to talk first so you start." I answered "Well, uhm how can I start. I uhm-" "Just say it" I cut him off "Well there's happened some things, and I don't think we should be together anymore." When he said that it's like someone very strong punched me in the face. "Well I- uhm" it was quite hard keeping tears away but I guess I successfully did it "so you didn't go to Charlotte town every day for work did you. And the flower was from there too" i said and he nodded "But why?" I said already with glossy eyes "I guess I just lost my feelings" he said and didn't show any emotion " I think I should go see Mary" I said and left the room with emotionless Gilbert After that I went to Mary's room, knocked and went in. "Hey Mary" I said approaching weak looking Mary "Oh hi Liz, come sit here." She said patting her bed "Do you need water?" I asked "No Im good thanks" she answered "Is something wrong? You look upset." "It's nothing important, believe me" I said giving her half smile "Oh believe me if this is my last day hon I wanna know everything. So spill it." She said it with a funny tone so I half laughed "Well me and Gilbert broke up." I said looking at her "You did what?" She said surprised "Yeah..." "Who ended it?" She asked "Gilbert" i answered "Its hard to believe to be honest." She said raising her eyebrows then continued "Well there was actually something that I needed to make you promise. I need you" she cut herself off to take a breather "will you look after Delphine? 3-4 times a week? I want her to get used to you Liz" she said grabbing my hand and I started to tear up" I want you to be in her life" "I promise Mary, I always will look after her." I said and kissed her cheek. Then someone knocked and came in. I turned and saw that it was Gilbert. "Its uhm time for your medicine Mary" he said and Mary nodded "Well I'm gonna go see Bash and Delphine." I said patted Mary's shoulder and left.
Gilbert's Pov
"Wellyou silly, come here" she said kind of, angry? "Why did you do that?" She asked "Did what?" I said confused having no idea what she's talking about "break up her you foolish boy." She said narrowing her eyes "I- uhm, I dont love her anymore?" "You think you can lie to me?" She asked, I looked at her slightly shocked as she continued "I appreciate you so much, Gilbert Blythe. You're a big part of my life, I'll have you know.You found my husband, a man I couldn't imagine,on a ship in the middle of the ocean... and you brought him home. Not as a partner or a friend... but as a brother.Some folks don't understand what you two are, and most aren't even capable of it... but I am grateful... knowing Bash is safe with you. Thank you for bringing love back into my family's home. But bee sure you marry for love. Only for love." She said and took a long breath "Hey it's time to go" Bash said coming to the room to pick up Mary "You better take the piece of my advice" she whispered

When we arrived at the place where everything and everyone was ready we were amazed, many people came who actually knew Mary. Every girl's/women's hat was decorated with beautiful flowers that was bringing the warmth of sun with its smell. Mary sat on the couch that we brought for her. I brought Delphine to Mary and sat her on Mary's lap. While Anne came. "And this is for Delphine."Anne said giving Delphine a flower crown "You're an angel, Anne Shirley Cuthbert." Mary said hardly smiling "She looks like a chocolate candy." Minnie May said "You're right, Minnie May. She is a pretty little chocolate princess." Diana replied

"Bash, did you do this?" Mary asked Bash "The community brought itself to you." He answered smiling at his wife

"I don't know how to thank you all.I'll just read my favorite prayer,if that's alright." She said took a big breath and started to read "Lord... make me an instrument of your peace.Where there is hatred...let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.Where there is darkness, light.Where there is sadness, joy. O divine master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled... as to console. To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life." She said looked at the sky closed her eyes and never opened again.
