Elizabeth's Pov
The next day I was at my house with my mom when someone knocked our door. I went to open it and I saw a man standing there.
"Hello Ma'am you have a letter from Charlotte town." He handed me an envelope
"Thank you Mr." I said and closed the door
"Who was it?" Mom asked as I entered our living room
"It was the mailman mom, he gave me this letter." I said while passing her the letter
She opened it and said "this is an invitation to ball at Charlotte town, it's from Josephine Barry."
"Barry like Diana?" I asked
"Yes, I had a conversation with her when I was at Barry's house, she's Diana's great aunt."
"Okay, when is the ball?" I asked exited, I love balls
"Its the day after tomorrow." She answered
"Great we have time to prepare." I said She nodded
"Okay mom Im going to Anne's, she invited me to have tea."
"Okay don't be late honey."
"Bye" I said

"Hello Anne." I said to red haired girl
"Hi Betty, I'm so exited for today, we will have a good day."
"Im exited too Anne." I said
"Come in." She said
When I came in I noticed a beautiful designed table, with tea, biscuits and fruits on it. you can see that She really tried to impress me, and she had succeeded.
"Anne this is beautiful, thank you for inviting me." I said
"That's not a big deal, I love to do things like that." She said
I smiled and went to the table to sit.
"Would you like to have some tea?" Anne said
I chuckled and said " Yes I would love to."

"Are you going to Josephine's ball Betty?" Anne asked
"Yes I am, what about you?" I asked
"Yes im going too." She said
"That's great Anne, what are you gonna wear?" I asked
"Wait, let me show it to you." She said and went to her wardrobe.
She showed me a beautiful blue dress.
"It's beautiful Anne." I said
"Thank you, and by the way,what are you gonna wear?" Anne said
"I still don't know Anne." I said "sorry can you tell me the time?"
"It's nearly 6 pm ." Anne said
"Oh i think im gonna go its late." I said
"Ok Lets go downstairs." Anne said and we headed downstairs
"Goodbye Anne, see you at ball."
"Bye Betty see you" Anne said
After that I headed to my house

"Mom do you think this dress is good for ball?"
I said
"Yes it's beautiful Betty." Mom said "now come downstairs, I need you to go to Gilbert's house and to give to Mary some things."
"Ok mom." And we went downstairs
"Mom are these clothes for baby in the basket?" I asked
"Yes Betty, these are presents for Mary." Mom said
"Aww mom that's great."i said

Gilbert opened door, with surprised fase on him.
"Hi" I said
"Hello" he said
"Come in." He said and I entered the house
"Is Mary home?" I asked
"No she isn't, she is at the markets."Gilbert answered to my question
"Oh okay, I just brought her some clothes for baby." I said
"You can leave it at the table." He said and I placed the basket on the table
"Okay, I am done here, so I'll leave now" I said and headed back to the door.
I wanted to open it when Gilbert spoke "Wait" I turned to face him, I gave him a questionable face. "I wanted to ask you something. Are you going to the ball tomorrow?"
"Yes I am."
"So I wanted to know" he took a breath "will you be my date, I- I mean if you don't have a date alre-" I cut him off
"I would love too." I said smiling
"T- that's great."
"See you then, Bye." I said kissed his cheek and went back to home.
Gilbert's POV
I asked her to be my date to ball, she said yes. Betty said yes.
"See you then, Bye." She said kissed my cheek and went back

My face went red.
But I knew one thing she is my date for tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow I will say that I like her
