Today with our class we were having this kind of educational walk in the woods, like who hasn't been there.
"bud, bloom, branch and bough is part of a greater whole. In fact, everything you see around you is entangled in a kind of symbiotic dance, and the uniqueness of each participant
enables the forest to thrive." I walked with Diana as Miss Stacy continued to talk "But if you wish to see the true genius and efficiency of Mother Nature, just look up at the trees above you...""I like the color of your dress Lizzie" suddenly Diana said
"Thanks Diana, though you should be watching the trees not my dress" I sarcastically said
"Well I couldn't help but notice" She admitted
"Oh!" Tillie said as she tripped on purpose for boys to catch her
"Each tree is aware of its boundaries"Miss Stacy continued
"Thank you" Tillie said as the boys held her from "falling"
"Which in tree-speak, means...No touching!" Miss Stacy suddenly snapped at Tillie and boys as everyone started to laugh
"This kind of intelligence is not just limited to trees. We see it across all of nature, even with the birds and the bees." she continued
"Finally!" Josie exclaimed
"Birds and bees?" Tillie said giggling
"Oh girls" I snorted
"The bee collects pollen and nectar to feed the hive and create honey.
The flower receives pollen, which it needs to bear fruit." Miss Stacy stated
" I thought we were gonna learn about the real birds and bees." Jane Andrews said
I assure you, the lesson will be illuminating all the same. And then we have the birds. Take the red-breasted nuthatch." As Miss Stacy said that boys started to laugh "Its main source of food is the spruce budworm, which is a conifer pest. So while the Red-breast..."
"Look how Charlie doesn't leave Anne's sight" I said nudging Diana to their side
"Oh my God, Yes, he doesn't" Diana nearly squealed from excitement "The bird gets its food, the tree gets some much-needed pest relief. Which leads me to the purpose of this outing..."
"Mating season?"someone said
"Disgusting!"
Miss Stacy opened to say something but was interrupted by someones shout. It was Moody who started shouting because He fell and hurt his ankle.
"Oh, my goodness. Moody! Oh, goodness me" Ruby said from shock
When Moody shoved his ankle Ruby started screaming, and someone behind the trees started to scream, while I tried to see how bad the cut was.
"Indians!"She screamed
"We are surrounded by savages!" one of the boys said and Ruby fainted
"Everyone, calm down!" assured Miss Stacy
"How is he?" Miss Stacy asked
"It's deep." I answered
"There's nothing we can do here.He needs stitches." Said Gilbert who was trying to help him
"The Mi'kmaq village. It's nearby, they can bring help.I know the way. I'll be right back." Anne said and started to run to get help
"Ruby, are you alright?" Diana asked"Is she going to be alright?" Miss Stacy asked with worry in her eyes
"She's in shock." Gilbert said
"Give her some honey. It'll bring her energy up." I stated
Ruby got her consciousness back but when she saw Anne and two indians with her she fainted again."This is the Mi'kmaq medicine woman.
She's here to help." Anne said"Who is dead?My son, he said someone died." The Indian said
"Uh... no one's dead. One of our girls has fainted
and a boy is hurt." Miss Stacy assured them "Thank you so much for your help.""Hello. The girl will be alright-"Gilbert said
"but the boy needs help." I cut him off and looked at him with worry
"hey"Gilbert said as he put his hand on my shoulder "they will help him"
I looked at him quite shocked and said "I know, I know"
