Lizzie's Pov

After the dance I immediately went back to the girls.

"Gilbert has a secret sweetheart!
Lizzy, you were dancing with them." Jane voiced

I guess it was a bad idea as they started attacking me with questions. "Who is she?"
"She's so pretty!"
"A true lady."
"Wealthy, too."

It was really overwhelming

"She must be from Charlottetown."
"Maybe she was his patient.
Did he make her well?"
"Will you just stop attacking her with your questions huh?" Diana came to my rescue
"Uh, I need some fresh air" Josie said and left

I choose to remain standing next to the table and not dance this round. It was entertaining to observe other people dancing and having a good time.

When the dance had finally ended, Josie returned in a state of confusion.
"Hey you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah" was her response when I checked on her.

I assumed they were chatting about something because the crowd began to buzz.

"Josie, are you alright?"  Anne said as  she approached,
"I'm alright."
"Are you sure? The boys are saying things about you and Billy.""Anne said
"What are they saying?" I hissed cause I already knew what he did to her
Anne went after him as I quickly followed her

"How dare you?!" I snapped
"Come to beg for a kiss too?" Billy dared to say
"Beg?That's not what happened,
and you know it!" Anne continued my argument
"How dare you spread nasty rumors about our friend?!" I fumed
"You weren't there. You don't know what you're talking about." he spoke
"We have eyes, and I can see that she is devastated." as Anne continued I went back to Josie
"Listen, we know its not what happened and that he is talking nonsense, just know that you're not alone okay" I attempted to console her

"You shouldn't have touched her, Billy!" Anne shouted.

"Well... I guess she regrets having loose morals."
The final straw for Josie was when she ran out, and despite our calls to halt, she continued.

The next morning, at school

"Is it really so bad?
They're practically engaged."Ruby asked

"Were." ignorantly said Jane

"Billy had no right, regardless!" Anne stated
"None of us saw what happened. Besides, Josie's always been
ill-bred."continued Jane

"Josie's reputation is ruined."Tilly stated

"Why isn't Billy's?He was heedless and disrespectful!
Josie has every right to be upset!" I couldn't hold my thoughts inside me because it wasn't only me and Josie who became victims, I'm sure there were more that we were unaware of

"So I suppose we should get to work." this perfectly ignorant thought came from one and only Gilbert Blythe

"Is it more important to talk about who had the biggest cabbage
than to discuss issues which concern an entire gender?" as I finished my argument, i headed to the doors, to leave, I was just too fed up with everything
