* Jeff's POV

"I’m crying because... you are, too," Y/N whispered.

I felt a warm, liquid drop hit the back of my hand. My breath hitched. I hadn't cried in years. Not since the night the world turned white and red. I touched my face, my fingers coming away wet. A flood had broken loose, and I didn't know how to stop it.

"I... I forgot how this feels," I rasped. My chest felt like it was being crushed in a vice.

"It’s what you’ve been carrying," she said, her voice trembling. She was looking at me with that same soul-crushing sadness she’d had in the apartment. "When it hurts in here" I followed her  hand as she touched where her heart is. "The only way to ease it is to let it out. Maybe that's why you held me. You needed to let go."

I looked at her. Her (e/c) eyes were overflowing now, tears tracking through the dust and blood on her cheeks. She had lost everything; her parents, friends, even her own self, just like I had. The only difference was that I had been the one to swing the knife at my own blood. I didn't regret my parents. But Liu...

"Why do you love.. your parents so much?" I asked, the words feeling heavy. "After everything?"

"Because," she bit her lip, "..when the world hates me, they were the only ones who didn't. They were the only ones I had."
Liu. I whispered the name to the shadows. Liu is everything to me too. He is always there when I needed someone in my life. He always there to take care of me, but then.. I--

Suddenly, Y/N moved, wrapping her arms around me which taken me aback. She buried her face in my hoodie, her sobs muffled by the fabric. Her cries.. this is the suffering I wanted to see in her face. My instinct screamed at me. Its now my chance. I pulled my knife, the steel gleaming in the dim light, ready to drive it into her spine and end the confusion.

End it now. End the pain.

Yes.. YES! I.. I SHOULD END IT NOW!

But why? Why does my arm wouldn't move. Something—some dying ember of the boy I used to be—held my wrist. For a moment, my mind went blank. My plan to kill her vanishes like an air. And for a brief moment, I.. I want to be the boy I used to be. The one who enjoys little bit of things.. to enjoy being embraced.. being.. wanted. I let the knife slip from my fingers. It thudded onto the sofa as I slowly, awkwardly, wrapped my arms around her. What is going on with me?

"Go to sleep," I murmured. Not as a signature threat. Not this time.

An hour passed. Y/N had cried herself into a deep, exhausted sleep against my chest. I stayed still, watching the way her hair fell across her face. She looked peaceful, even with the dried tear tracks on her skin. I reached out, tucking a stray lock behind her ear. Why does this woman.. suddenly look.. pretty? And her hair.. I did not even notice how smooth it was. Her cheeks are like fluffy cottons that I want to tear apart.. or pinch?

"Sigh.. wherever I go... I feel like you're watching," I muttered to the supposed empty room.

I looked toward the window. My heart stopped. I was  expecting to see EJ or that ass-clown LJ, but a familiar face that I haven't seen for a long time was there, pale and familiar, staring back at me from the darkness. I carefully shifted Y/N’s head onto a cushion until I can say she is comfortable, before I stood up. I glance away thinking its my mind playing tricks on me again and just focused on Y/N. I needed to cover her—she was shivering. So I headed upstairs to get a blanket, and then went back to the sofa but once again.. he appeared. He is already there, waiting in the hallway holding a spare blanket.

"It's been a long time, Jeffery," Liu said. His back was to me as he pulled the blanket from her bed. "It’s rare to see you taking care of a victim."

"I don't care about her," I hissed, my hand dropped the worn blanket I am holding and now itching for my blade. "I just—"
