The rooftop was a stage of slick gravel and cold iron. Chief Daniel scrambled backward, his polished boots skidding as Jeff emerged from the stairwell like a ghost born from a bloodbath. Jeff didn't run; he stalked, his breath coming in jagged, white plumes, his eyes fixed on the man holding Y/N.
"Stay back, you freak!" Daniel shrieked, his composure shattering. He kept the pistol pressed to my temple, his finger white-knuckled on the trigger.
Jeff's response was a low, guttural growl that sounded less like a man and more like a predator. "You touched what's mine."
Ten SWAT officers opened fire. The rooftop exploded in a hail of lead and sparks. Jeff didn't dodge; he blurred. He moved with a sickening, inhuman fluidity, dropping low and sweeping his legs. The first officer didn't even see the blade before Jeff's kitchen knife buried itself in his throat.
Jeff used the falling body as a shield, soaking up a volley of bullets before spinning and hurling a second knife. It whistled through the air, piercing the visor of a sniper and dropping him instantly.
"Kill him! DAMN YOU, KILL HIM!" Daniel roared, pulling me closer to the ledge. I tried to fight back and pull away but this ruthless man is stronger than my weak body. Meanwhile, Jeff was a whirlwind of white and red. He disarmed a third officer with a bone-snapping kick to the wrist, caught the man's falling rifle, and—instead of firing it—smashed the butt of the gun into the man's face with enough force to shatter the skull. He was a force of nature, driven by a singular, murderous focus.
Daniel, seeing his men fall like wheat before a scythe, panicked. As Jeff lunged for the final two guards, Daniel took his aim.
"A second..." Jeff rasped, dodging a desperate swipe from a combat knife. He grabbed the guard's arm, snapped it like a dry twig, and drove his own blade deep into the man's chest. He turned his head slowly toward the Chief, his carved smile glistening with fresh spray. "...Give me a fucking second until I get to you."
Then Jeff sprinted. Daniel fired—once, twice—but the bullets only grazed Jeff's shoulder. Jeff was on him in an instant. He didn't just attack; he collided. He slammed his body into Daniel, the sheer momentum throwing the Chief back. Jeff's hand shot out, catching Daniel's gun-hand and crushing the bones until the pistol clattered to the gravel. With his other hand, Jeff drove his knife into Daniel's chest, right over the heart.
For a moment I thought we finally won, but when Daniel managed to grab his pistol to pull a trigger to shoot Jeff---things went blurry as I screamed and rush to stop Daniel. But as the blade sank in, Daniel's dying reflex was to shove. He threw all his weight against me who is trying to unarmed him, and as Jeff felt the heart beneath his blade stop beating, he looked up just in time to see me slip over the edge of this rooftop along with Daniel.
I saw Jeff's hand reaching out, his fingers brushing against mine for a fraction of a second. He missed catching my hand to save me from the fall and his face twisted in a scream I couldn't hear. All I could hear is the sickening dying laugh of Daniel.
"Die with me, Y/N.."
KRASHH.
The impact was a white-hot explosion that shattered the world. I lay on the crumpled roof of a car, my lungs refusing to pull in air. A warm, metallic saltiness flooded my mouth and nose. Daniel is there on the ground missed by the car as his body splattered in that stone rough cement floor. I try to move but I can't.. and my head is throbbing. Above me, the sky was a piercing, mocking blue.
"Y/N!? Y/N!! OH FUCK!!"
Jeff was there, ignoring how he ran so fast just to find me limp on the bloody car's hood. His hands trembling as he lifted my head. Every movement felt like a thousand needles.
