Kate awoke to the sound of laughing. It was a psychotic laugh, maniacal, verging on insanity.

“Hahahahahah! I shall win against whatever life throws my way! We have gained victory Murashi! We have won!” Sideath said.

Kate sat up, and looked at the wall. There was a small hole in it, which was leaking the oxygen out of the building. Kate and Connor were both safe, as they didn’t require oxygen to survive.

Kate quietly got up and walked to the hole. She began picking away at the hole, making it bigger, although she wasn’t making too much progress.

“Murashi! Let’s go! We have places to be, people to see!” Sideath said, walking out the door. Murashi followed, neither looking over at Kate. They must have thought she was still unconscious.

Kate looked around the room quickly, looking for something she could use to make the hole bigger faster. Propped up on one of the walls was Connor.

His head was bleeding, and he was unconscious. Kate walked over to him. He was barely breathing, and his pulse was faint. He was dying.

“No. No. Not you too. Please, wake up. Please!” Kate said, gently shaking him, trying to wake him up.

“Nnnn...Kate?” Connor said, opening his eyes a little.

“Connor! You aren’t dead!” Kate said, throwing her arms around him in a hug.

“Ouch… Kate? A little gentler please?”

“Sorry. For a minute I thought you might not wake up. I didn’t want you to die.”

“That makes two of us.” Connor responded.

Kate got up and went back to the hole. She continued picking at it and slowly making it bigger, and she could almost feel the oxygen being sucked out of the room.

The hole had gotten a lot bigger. Kate could probably squeeze through if she tried hard enough, but with Connor’s injuries, it would be a lot harder for him. So she kept digging, hoping that no one would come in and ruin her chance.

Eventually, the hole was big enough, although Kate was extremely tired. She had been working at the hole for what she thought was at least an hour straight.

“Connor, now we can get out.” Connor looked confused then got up and walked towards Kate.

“Kate, you are a genius.” Connor said smiling.

“I know I am. No let’s get going.” Kate responded. Kate and Connor walked through the hole, escaping onto the moon’s surface.

“Let’s head to the dome. They won’t be able to find us there.” Kate said, and they started walking in silence.
