Nicole's POV

The next day... I rolled over, slowly opening my eyes as the morning sun filtered through the window. The warmth of the sun's rays kissing my skin, bringing a sense of comfort and serenity to the room, as if nature itself was whispering a promise of a beautiful day ahead, a tranquil moment before I start my day. Moments later I hear knocking on the door.

"Who is it? It better not be you Jake, trying to apologize to me again because I'll slap you if you try."

"It's Brad, Jake's friend."

"Oh sorry, I thought it was him, wanting to apologize. Just give me a minute, I'll be right there."

"No rush."

"I hope he didn't send you to do his dirty work."

"To tell you the truth even if he did I wouldn't help him clean this particular mess he's in with you."

"Hahaha good to know."

"Oh, yeah. I almost forgot what I came up here for."

"What was it that you came to do?"

"Would you like to join the pack for breakfast? The hunting team left a while ago, if you're wondering."

"Ya sure, I'd love to."

I'm trying not to worry so much about them, they're quite capable of defending themselves. I hope they all make it back to the pack in one piece, but not Jake. I really couldn't care less if he made it or not, that goddamn dickhead, yet some part of me wants him to come back safe, I don't know why I feel this way.

"You know, you'd be a great Luna for the pack."

"Don't call me that, I am not and will not become LUNA of this pack! Being mated to your best friend is worse than being kidnapped by the rogue's."

Brad's POV

I think I might have hit a sore spot, he really has put himself in the doghouse. It's going to take him a while to get out of it.

"Sorry if I poked a nerve, making you upset."

Nicole's POV

"No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. It's just that he's such an ass it's not funny."

"Sounds like you and Jake get on each other's nerves."

After I've gotten dressed, I walk for the door. Open it, step out, and close it behind me. We continue our conversation as we head to the dining hall to eat.

"Well enough about Jake and I, I think I've ranted quite enough about our situation. I need to figure out what I'm going to stuff my face with first."

"Oh I bet, after you stuff your face, you'll rant more like he does most of the time."

"No I won't, now drop it before I decide to eat you first. Got it?"

"Okay got it." He puts his hands up in the air, surrendering, then he whispers under his breath, "just like Jake."

"What was that?"

"Nothing."

"That's what I thought." Getting to the dining room a small boy comes up to me, starts asking me questions. A few seconds in and a little girl comes up to me too. They both ask,

"Are you with Jake?"

"No, I'm not with him."

"Why not? Jake is the best." The little boy said.
