The morning after I wake up early to find that my best friend Brad is sitting in the chair next to me, leaning on the bed asleep.

"HEY!"

"AHH! YOU FUCKER!"

"Have a nice nap?"

"I was until you startled me awake, ass."

"Have they-" Before I could finish Brad had this look of sadness on his face.

"Not yet, they're waiting for the right time."

"When is the right time for them? That's it, no more waiting."

"Don't, you're not healed yet."

"How much longer are they going to wait? Are they going to wait until it's too late, until she's dead? Huh? How long?"

"They're doing everything they can at this point. It's proving to be difficult since we have even less wolves than we had started with in the first place."

"I know but we have to save her."

"And we will, you just have to have patience."

"Alright fine, you pain in the ass."

"Now, how are you feeling?"

"Better than yesterday to say the least. Why are you here anyways?"

"What, I can't come see my best friend in the hospital?"

"There isn't any other reason why you're here?"

"Nope, none."

"Okay."

Later on the nurse came to check on me, she reexamined my wound and it seems that my wolf, Smoke, had healed it rapidly overnight. So I'm able to leave the hospital now, but I shouldn't do any physical activities during the rest of my healing requirement.

Soon I was discharged from the hospital. I'm eager to get out of this place, eager to know what my father has thought of to help Nicole. Even to know how everyone is doing after all the chaos that had erupted in their pack territory. It doesn't take us long to arrive because the territory is only half an hour away from the hospital. Once home I head to my dad's study, knocking on the door.

"Come in."

I open the door, walking in, strutting right up to my dad, stating.

"We have to go now!"

"Jake! Not now. I'm seriously busy at the moment."

"Come on, busy doing what? Sitting around on your ass all day, doing absolutely nothing!"

"JAKE!"

"Fine! I'll do it myself."

"Stop right there, do not take another step. Come back and take a seat."

"No. I'm go-" my dad cuts me off.

"Sit down! I know you want to save her, but we have to be smart about it. Going into their territory half-assed is not going to help, it could end up killing her. So, Jake, wait until our members are replenished and we will get her then. For now, let your wounds finish healing."

I casted my gaze to the floor, looking back up to my father, nodding in agreement that his objectives are reasonable, knowing he's correct. Then I stood up, heading to my bedroom, where I lay on my bed and stared at the ceiling. I decided to take a quick nap before dinner, an hour later... I wake up to the smell of food and chatting of the pack members enjoying themselves. I ascend down the stairs, walking into the dining room yelling...

"WHAT'S WRONG WITH ALL OF YOU? ENJOYING YOURSELVES WHEN SOMEONE FROM OUR PACK WAS TAKEN!"

"JUST STOP! WE DON'T HAVE THE NUMBERS RIGHT NOW!"

"THEN GET SOME!"

"I'M TRYING!" As my fathers voice cracks, he slams his fist onto the table.

"He's trying his best, Jake. You reminding him every minute is not helping."

Everyone in the room had gone silent, even me.

"It's not just your companion we're trying to bring back, but my daughter as well, so don't you dare think of rushing in because you might kill her instead of saving her."

I'm speechless. I have no words. I can't even muster up a sorry, I just go and sit in my seat, getting something to eat. The hospital food I had was atrocious, I couldn't eat it. I'm starving. After eating I try to talk to my father, but he gets up from his seat, leaving all of us at the table. Around midnight I go to his study, he usually stays up quite late working on paperwork for the pack.

"Dad?"

"What do you want?"

"I came to apologize to you for the way I've been acting since Nicole was taken, I'm just really worried."

"Apology accepted. Anything else?"

"Yeah, would you like some help with all the documents?"

"Yes, that would be a big help. Thank you."

I sat down helping my dad. Signing, declining and approving things on legal documents, requests etc. Soon it's 2am, and we've finished the last pages of the documents. After leaving the study, we both retire for a few hours before having to wake up early.
