Rage's POV
As they're transforming, I watch her in awe, her bones breaking one by one, her body contorting every which way to reveal her pure white wolf with black marks on the ends of each of her limbs. Once her transformation is complete, she slowly walks towards me then begins to run, fast.
"Shit!" I say as I run after her.
Arctics POV
I complete my transformation and begin to run as fast as I can. I'm running through the forest enjoying my freedom for now. The sun is setting, making way for the night to take over. The night is deep, a bright moon rises, bringing a starry night sky. The fresh night air is flowing through my fur, gliding along my body , freeing me of what I was feeling, going through.
I felt free, suddenly I came to a complete stop, nearly nearly falling into a pond. I walked a little closer to the pond and took a deep breath. A faint lotus scent touched my nose. In the night of the moonlight, I looked upon the scenery in front of me not noticing that rage was standing beside me, looking at me in the light of the moon.
I turn to look at him, he keeps eye contact with me and I can't help but do the same. His eyes have this certain shine to them, when the light hits them there are these little specks of white in them. They seem to be different from any other wolf eyes that I've ever seen in my lifetime.
Rage's POV
She runs leaving me behind for a second until I have Jarred yell at me saying...
"Go after her, now! Before she disappears!"
"Right. Now stop yelling." I say running.
I followed her, running for some time before suddenly stopping. I didn't think that she would stop, but to my realization it was quite quick, causing me to nearly run right into her back end. I then walked to her right side, glancing towards her. She's looking down at this medium , pink, flower floating in the water on a victoria. While looking at the flower she sits and looks towards me directly in my eyes.
"Name?"
"What's yours?"
"Rage. your turn."
"Arctic."
"Why'd you run?"
"You try getting out when you've been pumped full of wolfsbane for a straight week."
"Right, I forgot about that."
"Sure you did."
"I did, you're not the only one who gets locked up inside your human."
"I didn't get locked up, I was forced inside by your human."
"You're just like your human, snippy."
"You don't understand. We are not supposed to be here, we are supposed to be in our pack territory, our home, our family and friends are back there."
I can see that she is hurting, we are doing this to them. I try to get closer but she stops me from doing so, growling lowly to let me know she meant business.
"I'm sorry."
"Are you?"
"Yes."
"After all that has happened, how can I trust you?"
"You can trust me."
"How?"
"I have something to show you. Follow me."
Arctic's POV
He begins to walk away from me, continuing to get farther away from me and I realize that he's not going to wait for me to move. I follow him even though I have no idea where he's going to take me so I proceed with caution. We walk up this small hill, stopping at the top. He then says...
"Look." He says, nodding his head to the clearing.
When I turn to face where he is nodding, the landscape in front of us becomes visible. The expanse of trees ahead of me were never ending. The canopies provided a slight glimpse into the overcast weather which turned the shades of greenery even darker. The dark tree trunks, tall shadowed pines stretching up like arrows into the sky.
The stars are seen in glimpses through tree breaks, wind slipping through the leaves, causing the tree trunks to creak. There are coyote calls, fox yipping, wolves howling in the distance, crickets making music, fireflies dancing, the smell of rich earth, pine needles, fresh air, and a faint scent of flowers tickling my nose with each inhale I'm taking. I can feel the cold air hitting my face, my body twisting and jerking at every familiar sound of the forest, the forest that is my home.
This night is like no other, peaceful, calm, and beautiful. Somehow I feel safe up here with him out of all wolves I've come in contact with. He has revealed a side of himself that I do not believe he has shared with anyone; now if only Jarred could be like Rage.
Rage's POV
I'm staring at her when I get this strange sensation in my chest, tugging at my heart.
"What is this feeling I'm experiencing? Is there something wrong with me? Is something bad about to happen to me? Will I be okay?"
"What are you rambling on about Rage?"
"I don't know exactly. Can't you feel it too?"
"Yes of course I can, but I don't want to feel this way."
"Why not?"
"You know exactly why."
"I know, but this could be something different, something great."
"How could it be? We swore we would never feel like this again, never."
"Yes, bu-" Jarred cuts me off.
"Rage, end of discussion."
As he finishes speaking, he cuts off our communication. You have got to be kidding me, I have the most stupidest human in the world, he is so stubbor-. Okay now I see why we were so compatible and why the moon goddess decided to mate us with them.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it's amazing. How did you find this place?"
"Exactly how you found the pond, by running until I couldn't anymore."
"Do you come here often?"
"As often as I can."
"What does this place mean to you?"
"It's a place that I can come to if I need a quiet place to think. Ironic huh? The wolf is trying to find a place that's peaceful when he has the one thing he wants to ignore sometimes. And that's Jarred, he can be a handful."
"I know one or two things about that myself."
"Well it seems that our humans are actually quiet at the moment."
"Yeah probably to only be at each other's throats when we change back, letting them have their control back."
"Yeah, really though."
When they laugh, they both produce a sound known as a bark-howl. These two have an entirely different understanding of how people function. The sun will soon be rising when they return to the renegade stronghold, where they will change back into human shape and recover the clothing they left on the ground the previous evening. They change into their clothes and proceed inside, where they stroll to the dining hall to grab something to eat as they haven't eaten all night while admiring a beautifully constructed sight that was created by mother nature.
