"All right, I'll start at the beginning." I take a moment to gather my thoughts before proceeding to explain. "You are aware that Jake and I were mated."

"Yes I am."

"When Jake rejected me and I accepted his rejection."

"In my defense I wasn't thinking." He chimed in.

"In your defense you don't think at all." Jarred retorts.

"I can fucking think, it's you-"

"Both of you quit bickering like a bunch of children. You two are incapable of thinking anything through."

I rolled my eyes and thought, *These two morons are making my head spin*.

"Haha."

"What?" They both say in unison.

"Nothing." We both say exchanging looks to each other.

"Okay, enough lollygagging. Let's get back to your explanation before this interruption."

"Alright, as I mentioned earlier. I haven't been able to get along with him as you've seen, ever since the rejection set in. Then the second day, I got taken away from you guys, then a few hours later Jake came and got me."

"Yeah." He answers, shooting Jarred another one of his murderous glares in his direction.

"A week after, I was taken away once more, but this time I was gone for that whole week. Locked up and confined in a room with just two bowls–one containing food and the other water. I was brought to his room that day after refusing to eat for that week and having a bowl of mush shoved down my throat."

"What!? He did what to you?" He says angrily, in his half transformed body, starting to snarl and bare his teeth.

"Dad! Just listen."

"Fine."

"In that room I was told to follow his instructions 'if I wanted to enter the land of the living' that I should do what he said, so I did as he asked. After I was escorted to the bathroom to get all cleaned up, when we got there I refused to enter the facility with the other wolves and a few minutes later I sensed this bond."

"What bond?"

"This bond was far more stronger than what I had with Jake, in that instant Jarred and I discovered we were mated to each other."

"You're bonded to each other!?"

"Yes, it was a shock to me too, learning about it. But knowing that we have a bond, during the week and a half, realizing that we are bonded, I have grown to care for him, for them."

"So, why is Jake trying to rekindle the bond that you two had?"

"Now this is where things get weird and complicated."

"How complicated?"

"So, somehow Jake and I still have a connection, but I also have a bond with Jarred. It is not clear to me how it is possible to be rejected but still have a bond with him. Is the moon goddess teasing me or is she playing with them?"

"No, the moon goddess wouldn't play around with that kind of thing. Maybe she has a plan, though it may not be a very straightforward plan at that."

"Why me? Why?"

"I don't know. You'll simply have to let her do her thing."

"What am I supposed to do now?"

"You'll just have to wait and see what happens. What she chooses to do."

My dad takes hold of my hands and gives them a gentle squeeze, assuring me that everything will sort itself out and be fine.

"I have to go now, but I'll see you later at dinner." he says with a sincere smile.

"Um... What about them?"

"I'll get someone to bring them something."

"No, I can do that, or I can do one better."

"What do you mean one better?"

"Make them dinner."

"With what?"

"Someone can take me to town and shop for ingredients."

"I'll take you."

"Why?"

"Because."

"Because you want to or because you need to?"

"Want to."

"Is that so?"

"Yes."

"Why the sudden change of heart?"

"Not a single thing has changed. I just don't want to leave you alone with them ever again after what has happened to you."

"I'm fine now."

"Still I'm not willing to take that chance."

"Alright, lets get going then."

"Okay."

Jake and I drive toward the city in a 1980 jet black Chevrolet pickup truck. We arrive at the grocery shop after a short drive, park the vehicle, and head inside. I grab 1 lb. ground beef, 1 onion, a packet of taco seasoning, 1 can of green chiles, 1 can of black beans, 1 bag of frozen corn, 1 can red enchilada sauce, 1 block of cheddar and 1 block of monterey jack cheese, 2 bags of tater tots. To cook a Mexican tater tot casserole. In order to feed everyone at once, I purchased two of everything.
