Jake's POV

I've only just arrived, and already I'm getting in trouble. She always does that, but this time it surprised me by drawing my attention to her when she yelled. She is wearing nothing but a white t-shirt when I turn to face her, and when I do, she seems different—more confident and at ease. She interrupts me as I start to say something, forcing me to wait until she's finished her morning coffee before continuing.

She senses our stare's as she's brewing her coffee; they're fixed on her, so she turns and asks,

"What?"

"He-" She cuts us both off.

"Ah, one at a time." She looks towards me, for me to speak.

"Are you alright? Are you eating properly? How are you doing? Are you healthy?" I ask, then Jarred retorts with,

"Oh she's extremely lively."

"Jarred!"

"How would you know?"

"That's not important." Nicole interrupts, taking a sip of her hot beverage, then continues to say, " I'm fine."

"Then what are those bruises? Did he hurt you?" I inquisitively ask.

"N-no he didn't h-hurt me." She sputters, becoming red and turns around. When she answers I have this nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach, having this fleeting sensation I asked her,

"So what are the-" I pause, realizing exactly what those marks are. I stand up, marching in her direction, quickly closing the distance between us. A few strides and I'm face to face with her, knowing it's going to prove what I've figured out, continuing to speak I ask... "Are those what I think they are?"

"What do you think they are?" Jarred smuggly said.

"H-hi-"

"Uh- y-yeah." She answered. I then sniffed the air surrounding her, confirming the sinking feeling I had when I didn't know the answer, the answer I didn't want to hear.

"Serious-" She cuts me off saying,

"I can explain."

"I don't want to hear any of it."

"Jake ple-" I cut her off.

"No, don't."

"Just hold on a sec, Jake! Jake!" She yells after me.

Nicole's POV

I look towards Jarred for permission to go after him and try to explain what had happened. He nods, knowing that I won't run, I then start running to catch up to him. Catching up I grab his arm, trying to get him to stop but it doesn't work so I try pleading for him to let me explain the situation at hand.

"Jake, just stop and let me explain, please."

"Why should I? I risk my life for a second time to bring you back home and I find out you and Jarred fucked each other!"

"Now that's not fair. It's been a week since I left and in my defense I thought you were dead!"

"And that makes it okay!?"

"Of course not, but there's more to it than you think!"

"How could there be more!?"

"Think, why would I screw him in the first place!?"

"I don't know, to get back at me!"

"Oh that's rich coming from a guy who slept with many women before me, only to reject me!"
