*back to present day*
Nicole's POV
This morning, Nicole is startled awake by one of the renegade wolves.
"Get her up." The delta of the pack demands.
The faint feeling in my wolf makes me slowly get to my feet. Being confined to this chamber and having no imminent means of escape has been unbearable. After climbing the stairs, the two rogue goons grab each of my arms and pull me along till we reach a set of large oak wood doors. They then pause in front of the doors and the delta knocks on them. I hear a voice saying something through the wooden doors.
"Come in."
I get thrown to the ground in front of Jarred's feet by the rogue as the doors open. When I'm tossed to the ground, I don't give him the satisfaction of looking up at him, but of course I'm just this tiny, defenseless, vulnerable child in front of a cruel, renegade leader who wants me all to himself.
"What? You're not going to look at your Alpha, little girl?" I don't respond, he continues, "Nicole, are you ready to accept the fact that you're not going to be saved." I continue to stay silent, letting him know that I would sooner die than make eye contact with this bastard. At this very moment I'm still hunkered over not gazing upwards at that monster, regardless of how much time it takes for somebody to come and get me. I am never going to submit to such a monster even if it kills me. He approaches closer to me before he kneels down, snatching my entire face and forcing me to peer at him. Then I clenched my eyes before I gazed upon his.
"Open your eyes."
I nod my head no.
"OPEN YOUR DAMN EYES!" He growls angrily, squeezing my face harder. I slowly open my eyes, looking straight into this arrogant asshole. He then narrows his eyes while smirking, continuing to say,
"Awe look at you, eyes puffy, red, and swollen. Makeup running down your face, pooling around them. You look utterly horrid, my girl." He releases my face then chuckles. They briefly glance away from me, so I muster up all the strength I can, lunging towards them both, teeth bared, claws out, determined to hurt them. But before I can accomplish anything, I get struck hard.
"Nice try."
I gaze at him with daggers in my eyes, when I fail to put as much as a scratch on him. He flashes me a self-satisfied, arrogant smirk the instant I do that.
"What? Do you not understand why your weakness has arisen? Would you like to take a guess?"
It dawns on me why I don't have my usual strength when he says this. As I murmur under my breath, "Wolfsbane."
"Exactly, you've figured it out. Good girl."
Damn, If I keep getting pumped full of that toxin that some of us try to avoid, I'll never be able to get out of this shithole at this rate. He has been giving me injections of it for the past week; unless I manage to battle my way out of this situation or am rescued, I will have to surrender for the time being in order to be free. I feel his gaze lingering on me as I'm thinking to myself.
"Whatcha thinkin' about? I hope it's not what I know you're thinking about."
"And what's that, exactly?"
"Oh she speaks." He pauses snickering, continuing, "How do you think you're going to leave this place? Fight your way out or let that dickwad of a wolf save you."
"Oh, so that big head of yours does contain a brain."
"Watch what comes out of that pretty little mouth of yours or I will put it to work."
