about a month later - january of two thousand and twenty"marsh.." avery said. I let out a low muffled mhm, watching as she furrowed her eyebrows together. "honey, it's four in the mornin'. don't you have to be at the studio in a couple hours?" she asked as I let out a chuckle.
I nodded, "I do, but talking to my girl is a lot higher on my priority list then sleep. I miss you, sweet girl.." I said as her face flushed. she nodded in agreement, "I miss you. it feels like forever since you were here"
I let out another chuckle and pressed my tongue to my cheek, "it's only been three weeks, baby" I said as avery rolled her eyes. "like I said.. forever" she said adamantly, as a small smile tugged on my lips.
a comfortable silence fell between us, "hey avery, there's something I've been wanting to talk about, I-I was just kinda waiting on the right time" I said as she looked up alarmed. "a-are you breaking up with me?"
her eyes instantly started to well up, as I quickly denied her statement. "n-no baby, I was hoping you'd you wanna come to michigan and visit" I said anxiously.
"I-I would have asked weeks ago but I wanted to wait until football season was over, just so you had one less thing to worry about honey" I said as avery's expression softened. "I mean, we have been seeing each other for a few months now, you know?"
I chewed at my lip, "I can only assume it's been exclusive" I said as avery let out belly laugh. I sighed, watching her every move intently. "I just want to throw you into the craziness, of what I call my life here"
"I-I would like to introduce you to my daughters and show you that I want this, and that i'm one hundred percent all in" I rambled. she sigh, anxiously mashing her lips together. "marshall.." she said hushed.
"talk to me, tell me what you're thinking baby" I deadpan, starting to feel a weighted sensation in my chest. more silence lingers before I cleared my throat, "avery, talk to me" I said before her and I made eye contact.
"I-I think i'm ready to come visit" she said, but before she was finished talking I excitedly left the frame of the facetime call to grab my computer. I chewed at my lip trying my best to contain all the adrenaline flowing through me.
"o-okay, i'll get you on the first flight out" I stated. avery let out another chuckle, "why don't you get a few hours of sleep and arrange everything later"
I adamantly shook my head, "are you kidding me? I haven't seen you in weeks. if I could fly you out right now, I would try and make it happen" I said. avery playfully rolled her eyes, "okay, do what you want crazy. but i'm goin' to sleep"
a sleepy smile curved her lips as she watched me, resting her head in her hand. I nodded, "get some sleep baby, i'll talk to you when you wake up" I said, as she blew me a kiss.
"hey, less then twenty four hours and those kisses will be real" I said shooting her a wink before she ended the call. not long after our conversation, I booked the first flight available. I sighed, feeling a wave of peace come over me. she was gonna be here tonight.
