"Adam Finley, can you please pay attention?" I looked up from what I was doodling in my English book, to my teacher. She was glaring at me but thankfully had no idea what I was doing at the back of the class.
"Sorry Miss..." I looked down as my cheeks burned with embarrassment. The whole class was staring at me.
"Miss, Adam Finley is writing something." Margaret Smith stuck her hand up in the air. I felt a shudder go down my spine at how evil that two-faced bitch was. She was teacher's pet and loved telling tales.
Mrs Edwards walked through the rows of tables to the one table right at the back of the class where I sat alone. I tried shoving the papers right to the back of my English book but Mrs Edwards whipped them out. She had a habit of taking notes from students and reading them out to the rest of the class. This wasn't going to be good...
"I wish I was..." Mrs Edwards' voice trailed off as she saw that last word. Her eyes scanned the page, bulging out as she read. I saw her swallow hard. She then folded up the paper and put it in her pocket. "Let's continue to read 'Of Mice and Men' then..." She walked back through the tables to her desk at the front of the class. I gathered all my books and shoved them into my backpack. I then pushed away from my table and walked towards the door.
"Where do you think you're going Mr Finley?" Mrs Edwards screeched.
"Read the note! It might give you a clue." I hissed at her as I yanked the door open and walked out.
