"I'm sorry, Chaeng. I'm so sorry but I can't"
Her words that just slipped through her mouth went straight to my mind and was slowly giving a pang of pain in my heart. I was stunned and dumb-founded for few minutes until I found a bit of courage to ask her why
"But why? Can I at least know the reason, Mina?"
My expectations were slowly killing me for This is not what I expected.
My heart ached from expecting too much thinking she would answer me the same way that she did years ago. Unfortunately, she didn't and it's killing me. I'm waiting for her to atleast hear some comforting words from her but She seemed so annoyed. She's even frowning as if she's so disappointed of what I just said
"Please Mina, at least let me know the reason why. I'll listen and whole heartedly respect you and your decisions no matter how painful it would be. I just need to know why 'cause baby all along, I thought it would finally be you and me again"
"Idiot!"
"Mina—"
"You shouldn't have done this and ruined my mood, Chaeyoung."
"I'm sorry—"
"I thought you had no plans on doing this again but here you are, ruining everything I planned"
Plan? What did she mean by that? I was about to asked her about what is she refering to but then she suddenly burst out crying while hitting me
"Hey,Mina wait—"
"Fuck you!"
"Hey, Mina—"
"Damn you!"
She's really confusing me and at the same time, hurting me So I pulled her in and buried in my chest for a warm embrace. I locked her inside my arms until she slowly calmed down few minutes ago
"Mina? Baby—"
"I hate you!"
"But why? I thought you wanted this like I do?"
"I once did, before."
"You what? Once did? Before?"
Her words slowly numbed my heart. Does it mean she don't want to be with me anymore? The pain is slowly getting really painful as minutes passes by. My mind is telling me to run away but I'm trying to calm myself down and hear her out.
The last thing I want to happen is to have another miscommunication with her and endure another painful years without her. Besides, I trust her and her feelings towards me.
She loves me. I know she does and she still loves me.
"I will ask you again, Mina."
"Chaeyoung, No—"
"Will you marry me? Will you spend the rest of your life with me again?"
"Chaeyoung—"
"Mina, I am not promising you a perfect life ahead—not even some fairytale like stories but I guarantee you that no matter how our journey would be, at the end, we'll still have our own happy ending that we both love"
"Chaeyoung—"
"Mina. Can you be my wife again?"
This time, I kneeled Infront of her and pulled out a ring out of my jeans' pocket. She immediately eyed the ring as I tried to read what's on her mind. This piece of jewelry isn't something expensive but this is full of love and efforts.
"Chaeyoung please—"
"Mina, I know this is just a simple ring. It doesn't even had any stones on it but I pour all my love in this ring and made it especially for you"
"Wait, you made that ring?"
"Yeah, back then when I was still in New Zealand"
Mina's tears once again started to fall as she stared at me with affectionate eyes as if telling me she really appreciate it and Somehow, it gaves me hope.
"Would you be mad if I really say "No" this time? Would you still love me, Chaeyoung?"
I looked at her and smiled weakly
"Who am I to be mad at you, baby? I told you I will respect everything in you— your pain, your decisions and eveything about you and you don't have to worry, I will still love you whatever happened. If you say yes, then I'd be so happy but if not, then it's okay. Maybe this is not really the time for us but we can still wait, right? Like I told you, I'll be the one to wait for you this time but let me at least know your reasons why. I just really wanted to know if I sucked again and disappointed you in any way that I didn't know"
My tears fell as soon as Mina pulled me up and hugged me tight and right there and then, I know that she already said No. I can't stop myself but to cry in her arms as she wipe my tears
"Do you know why I said "No"? Do you know why I acted out and got annoyed when you proposed out of nowhere?"
"W-why?"
"Because I want to be the one to do that, baby"
I gasped and hastily covered my mouth as soon as Mina fished a jewelry box on her bag
"M-mina—"
"Remember when I asked you if you had any plans to proposed? Chaeyoung, that time I was only making sure that you really don't have any plans to do that because I already decided to do this. I love you so much that I wanted to make you mine officially once again, baby"
"But Mina—"
"We've been through a lot already, Chaeng but I still want you to know that I'm still willing to spend every seconds of my life with you. So now let me asked you the same question"
As if on cue, she kneeled Infront of me and opened the small red jewelry box showing the expensive gem before me
"M-Mina—"
"Will you marry me, Chaeyoung?"
God, Is this really happening? Is Mina really kneeling Infront of me and asking me to be her wife? Is this real?
I secretly pinched myself and realized that indeed, it is real
Good heavens! I am so happy now that I can't even utter any single word while my tears were freely sliding down my cheeks
"Don't you dare refuse and say you don't want to marry me like you did before, Son Chaeyoung"
I chuckled as soon as I remembered when she proposed to me years ago in the hospital—days after we finally escaped my family's dark deeds. I really wanted to say Yes that time but the moment doesn't seemed to be for us.
Everything was really in chaos back then and that time, I am starting to hate myself and my whole family for everything and I feel so unworthy for her and for her love
"Don't keep me waiting, Chaeng. Be mine."
Her attitude made me smile. She's being bossy and sweet at the same time and it still melts my heart.
"Mina—"
"Aish! Shut it already. Marry me, Son Chaeyoung. It's a demand!"
