Mina
I am currently sitting between Chaeyoung and Somi while nesting on a small round table in a very fancy restaurant here in the city after Somi humbly asked for a dinner tonight with me and Chaeyoung. The ambiance of the place screams luxury and elegance yet the tension in our table was far diffrrent from it.
The two of them seems aloof and cold to one another which of course, surprised me. They used to be close friends before not to mention that they even become a couple many years ago. They share a very healthy and wonderful relationship back then unlike now, I guess.
They seemed mad at each other or so I think.
Somi, like she always was, started to act nice and sweet to me as soon as our orders arrived. She gently took care of me like she always does while Chaeyoung on the otherhand was all grumpy and timid. She didn't even bother looking at me more than twice because she's looking at Somi most of the time.
At first, I thought that she already realized how she missed Somi so much but it turns out, she was actually not. She's looking at Somi in a cold way as if she's annoyed by the latter's presence. Well, I'm not really sure so I just shrugged it all of and focus on my food not until I realized what is happening.
"Here, Mina. You should try this"
"Thanks, Somi.."
"No, This one's better, Mina. You should eat this"
"Thanks Chaeng.."
Somi and Chaeyoung kept doing so until I realized that there's too much food on my plate already and if they keep on doing this, I might smacked both of their heads off out of frustration.
"Guys, enough. Stop doing nonsense stuffs like kids"
"See? You should stop now, Somi. Oh by the way, try this one, Mina. This is good as well."
"Stop it, Chaeyoung"
"Oh come on, this is really good—"
"I said stop it, Chaeyoung!"
My voice sounded like irritated which I'm not surprise at all. They're not going along well and it stresses me out. I can feel that Somi was trying to be nice and all but Chaeyoung here was being a brat.
God, I don't even know how and when did I end up sharing a dinner with Somi and Chaeyoung who's now having a staring contest against each other. At first, I really thought the two of them would be happy to see one another again after long years but I guess, I'm wrong.
"Why did you even have to be here, Somi?"
"Chaeyoung,stop it. Somi invited us out nicely. Stop being rude—"
"Wait, I'm being rude? Mina, I didn't even agreed on this dinner. Look, we can have dinner without her—"
"Son chaeyoung! Can you even hear yourself? She's our friend. How can you even say things like that? Stop being rude—"
"Wow, so now I'm being the villain here!?"
"Stop making a scene here, Chaeyoung. If you are mad at me then so be it, just please don't make a scene here and embarass Mina."
Once again, the staring contest between the two of them began until a waiter arrived and served us another bottle of wine which slowly, eases the tension in our table. Thankfully, we ate in silence afterwards.
The night went on until we realized it's getting late. After a fancy dinner, we decided to call it a night. Somi, insisted on driving me home which of course was opposed by Chaeyoung. Unfortunately, Chaeyoung didn't brought her car like me So we all end up being in somi's car.
I sat on the passenger's seat neside Somi who's driving while Chaeyoung was on the back alone who's grumping like a little kid. She really looked so cute and funny but at the same time, annoying. I love how cute she is right now but I hate how is she acting right now as well. She's really acting rude like a brat and I am hating her actions towards Somi who's being so nice.
The drive home was quiet fun. Somi led the conversation all the way without Chaeyoung's interruption, thankfully. She fell asleep all of a sudden which gave me and Somi some time to catch up. It was really fun that I almost forgot Chaeyoung was with us.
"Hey, we're here."
"Ehh? That quick?"
"Well, I've been driving for almost an hour so I guess it's not that quick, Mina"
"Oh I guess, I had miss you so much that I didn't even realized it's been almost an hour talking to you"
"Yeah, I missed you too, Mina.."
Somi smiled at me before leaning closer to me. I don't know why but I just found myself closing my eyes and waiting for Somi's kiss until someone faked a cough which was loud enough to interrupt the moment between me and Somi.
"Are you guys really planning to make out in front of me? Really?"
Somi and i both gasped out in surprise and immediately apologize to Chaeyoung but as soon as I looked straight in her eyes, I saw her pain. That pain in her eyes brought a pang of guilt in my heart.
Damn, what am I even doing?
"Don't worry guys, I'll go in first. You can just continue everything. Enjoy each other and oh, by the way Somi thanks for the dinner and for the drive. See you around."
As soon as Chaeyoung hastily het out of the car, awkward silence surrounded me and Somi. It's as if guilt was eating us both which in the end made both of us uncomfortable being trapped in a small space of her car.
Somi broke the silence first and apologized until we bid goodbyes to one another. I tried to fake a smile but I guess it didn't worked out as well.
"I should go, thanks for the night, Somi. Drive safe."
"Yeah, Goodnight, Mina."
"Goodnight, Somi."
