Sadie was laying on the mattress and Millie sitting on it, her back turned to Sadie. The redhead sighed and closed her eyes. She did feel tired from the climbing, fighting, shooting and probably also due to blood loss. She tried to rest the best she could, but still be cautious and aware of her surroundings. Millie was watching the others through a gap from a curtain. She hated this. That she was putting everyone in danger. She wanted to leave. But she also knew that they wouldn't let her. She then heard the redhead groans and the mattress shift. Sadie was now sitting next to Millie.
-What's on your mind?, wondered Sadie.
Millie didn't reply, keeping her eyes on the other who were building the traps with Jillian's help.
-You can't be mad at me for not letting you get hurt., sighed the redhead, looking through the gap as well.
Millie once again didn't answer, simply staring. At this point she wasn't watching the others. She was simply too busy and focused on ignoring Sadie.
-Okay. As you wish., muttered Sadie as she laid back down on the mattress, staring at the ceiling.
-You got hurt because of me. You should be mad. You all should be mad at me., said Millie, but not looking at Sadie.
-Well, I'm not. We're not. Whether you like it or not, we're gonna fight until the very end to keep everyone in this group safe. That includes you. Do you understand?, replied the redhead.
-If I'd deliver myself to her, then you guys could leave. You'd be safe. Isn't that better? Sacrificing one person to save the rest?, asked the younger girl, now looking at Sadie.
-No. Not if that means losing you., replied Sadie, now also looking at the brunette.
-You have every right to be angry and mad at me. But instead you're protecting me from myself. Why?, wondered the brunette.
-Because what is happening is unfair. She has lost her mind. You should not pay for something that you didn't do. Even if you had done it, it would still not justify that crazy lady's actions., shrugged Sadie, not breaking the eye contact.
-But she's angry because of me. She lost it because of me., sighed Millie, now laying down as well and staring at the ceiling.
-Understandable., said the redhead, watching Millie.
The brunette raised her eyebrows and looked at Sadie.
-What do you mean?, asked the younger girl confused.
-If I had met you in a different scenario, I would have also lost my mind., replied the redhead.
-I don't get it., frowned Millie.
-I would have lost my mind at how pretty you are, Millie., chuckled Sadie as she didn't break the eye contact.
Millie was suddenly blushing and looking away, staring at the ceiling.
-Now is really not the time for this, Sadie., replied the brunette.
-For what?, wondered the older girl.
-For you to confuse me., sighed Millie, sitting up.
-I confuse you? How?, asked Sadie.
-Like I said, now is not the time. So let's ignore I ever said anything., sighed the younger girl as she looked down at her cuffed hand.
Sadie followed her eyes and looked at Millie's wrist. She grabbed the key and uncuffed Millie's wrist, setting her free.
-I trust you. Don't make regret this., said the redhead as she looked her in the eyes.
-Thank you., replied Millie, moving her wrist slightly.
-I'm sorry that I confuse you. Yet, I still don't understand how., frowned Sadie.
-I...I don't know. I've never felt this before. I mean, not this strong., tried Millie.
-Huh?, said the redhead, now completely lost.
-I feel things that I haven't felt before. It started when I first saw you at the entrance of the park. When you hugged me, it was even stronger. When you held my hand as we climbed down the rollercoaster., sighed the brunette, desperately hoping that Sadie would stop being so oblivious.
-You like being close to me?, asked the redhead.
-Well...I don't mind it, no., shrugged Millie.
-So you do?, repeated Sadie again.
-Yes, I do. Now can we please change subject?, sighed the brunette.
-Yes. Of course. Sorry. What do you wanna talk about then?, wondered the older girl.
-I don't know. Anything really. What about...when is the cop calling again?, asked Millie, looking at Sadie now.
-In about an hour, I'd say., replied the redhead.
-I don't know how we're gonna get out of this mess that I created. God, it's so messed up that y'all have to hurt because I was stupid., sighed Millie as she looked down.
-Stop it. This isn't your fault. You didn't ask for this. You're a good person, Millie. Don't be so hard on yourself, okay?,said Sadie as she looked at her friend.
-No, not okay. You got shot because of me. Families are stuck in this hell hole because of me. She is here because of me! This is my fault., argued the brunette.
-It is not your fucking fault. She is crazy! She is clearly mentally ill, Millie. She is out of control. You should be blaming her, not yourself., sighed Sadie as she looked back through the gap in the curtain.
-I don't. I blame myself for my naiveness and stupidity., replied Millie.
-Oh my fucking god, you're getting on my nerves, Millie. Shut up before I make you shut the hell up, understood?, groaned the redhead as she looked back at the other girl, who was now looking back at Sadie.
-What do you mean?, frowned Millie.
-I'm not sure that you wanna find out. So be fucking kind to yourself. Because they're only one of you. But there's always gonna be some people out to get you. Don't let them get under your skin. Don't let her get into your head. She's already had a big enough impact on your life., said Sadie now looking away and dodging the question like a pro.
-But she's right. She has every right to be angry and to want me dead., sighed the brunette.
Sadie clenched her jaw, put her hand on Millie's chin and made her look at her.
-If I hear you say one more bad thing about yourself, I'm gonna lose it., sighed the redhead.
-Then lose it., whispered the brunette as she stared down at Sadie's lips.
