Fortunately, the doors of the elevator closed and it started moving. As soon as it opened on the executive floor, Saskia quickly walked down the hall to her office, which was mostly made of glass. She was stowing her purse in the closet when her boss came rushing down the hallway, right past her door. He barked indefinable orders to his lackeys, who mostly surrounded him.

Saskia took off her jacket and hung it next to the door. She took a moment to review the past year. She looked out through the glass front into rainy London and hung her thoughts.

When she had applied for a job at Shahbandar Media Group, there had been several openings for different jobs at the same time. The interviews had not been conducted by the boss himself, who of course had no time for such trifles. No, a young, up-and-coming employee in a higher position had taken care of this.

Actually, Saskia had applied for the position of the assistant to the boss. Her qualifications would have been easily enough for that. She could still remember that day as if it had been yesterday.

On the general application day, many young women, fresh from their training, had come to present their skills. But Saskia actually already had years of experience. Not in London, but in the country, in a law company that was respected there. But she wanted to earn more, because she wanted to fulfill her dream and for that you needed money, it was as simple as that. That's why she decided to move to London.

Although she was older than the others and far more experienced, she still only got a subordinate job with less salary and she knew why.

Her thoughtful gaze wandered from the rainy streets of London. She now looked at her reflection in the window, which was slightly visible in the glass front. Saskia looked at herself again self-critically, she had too much on her ribs. To put it less nicely, she was too fat!

No one wanted to see someone like her sitting in front of the boss's office. After all, it wouldn't be appealing to the customers who occasionally strayed into Shahbandar's office. Quality didn't count in this case, or so she thought. That's why the young and inexperienced Evi was sitting in front of his office. She often seemed hopelessly overwhelmed by her boss's orders.

But Saskia couldn't care less about that. If it wasn't a fact that she did most of the work here in her office for Evi, with less salary than her. Just so Evi could save face. Why Saskia did that, she herself didn't really know. Despite everything, the pay was still many times better than in the country, she had to admit to herself.

Saskia finally sat down at her workplace and started the Apple computer. In the meantime, she was sorting through the chaos that had arisen on her desk during her absence. Evi pushed open the half-open glass door and stumbled in as quickly as her high heals would allow.

"Saskia you have to help me!" she called out to her without even greeting her.

"What is it this time?" asked Saskia with a slightly annoyed undertone. She already knew enough of these appearances. Most of the time she had then forgotten or lost some report and she had to iron out Evi's clumsiness.

"Lord Shahbandar is publishing a new book about himself and he wanted the dates and numbers!" she said hastily, "I must have overlooked it somehow, he wants it right away" she added without taking a breath.

"That's great, you've done it brilliantly again! Shall I do the magic now?" Saskia replied in a harsh tone. Slowly but surely she had enough of Evi and her mess!

She didn't say anything, just tried her best puppy dog look and smoothed out her tight pencil skirt.

"Fine! I'll see what I can do for you!", Saskia gritted through her teeth and gestured Evi to leave with a wave of her hand.

Saskia quickly tapped her passwords into the iMac keyboard and opened various programs. Routinely she created a summary of the key data Shahbandar wanted.

Lionel sat concentrated in his spacious office and signed various contracts

Lionel sat concentrated in his spacious office and signed various contracts. Annoyed, he ran a hand through his silvery hair. Sometimes, he thought to himself, he was surrounded by a bunch of complete idiots. Right after Harry Deane came his assistant.

How many times had she forgotten various things lately? He couldn't remember, but also had absolutely no desire to strain his mind. Only the end result of her concepts was actually always perfect, otherwise he would have sent her out the door long ago.

Saskia had just finished the summary and printed it out on glossy paper. She put the printout in a high-quality folder adorned with a lion's head, Lord Shahbandar's trademark. It would be quicker if she carried it forward to Evi's seat herself now, before making a phone call.

With quick steps, Saskia went to the reception desk where Evi was working. Just as she was about to hand over the finished folder, Lionel Shahbandar himself stormed out of his office.

"Where's my report!" he demanded, as he raced towards Evi's desk.

"Well, I..." she stammered.

But Evi didn't get any further, because Saskia was already interrupting. She would certainly not let this naive cow ruin her quickly created concept!

"Here you are, sir, your summary, as requested!", Saskia spoke confidently and stared for a few long seconds into the brown eyes of her boss. She held out the folder to him, which he immediately accepted. He turned back around and stormed back into his office.

Evi was still sitting frozen at her desk, gasping for air like a fish out of water.

"You can close your mouth again. It's not needed anymore," Saskia addressed Evi with a slightly sarcastic undertone.

Saskia now turned around as well and continued her way back to her office. Why she had just acted that way, she didn't really know herself. Probably her collar had finally burst today. After all, Evi had always taken advantage of her until now, and that would be the end of it in the future.

For the first time since she had started her work here, she had a few days of vacation starting tomorrow. Let's see how long Evi's faulty work remained hidden.

Saskia grinned a little mischievously to herself, time would tell.

She would be going to her cousin's in the country in those few days, it had been a long time since she had seen him. It was finally time to visit her old home again!
