That was Lione's face when he had already reached 1100 votes in this chapter in the German version. He couldn't believe it any more than I could that the story was so well liked.🥰

Again and again she stroked her fingers carefully through her styled curls, while she sat in the cab that drove towards Lionel's estate. Now the time had come, she would fight her way through this evening, come what may!
When the cab stopped in front of Shahbandar's estate, there was already a lot going on. Thus Saskia could slip unnoticed into the inside. She immediately went to her room and opened the suitcase. Instantly, she began to put the few belongings inside. She didn't care for the moment that it was messy. The main thing was that her things were all packed. She gathered the utensils from the bathroom as well and added them to the rest of the things.
A bit hectic and out of breath, she looked around the room. Apparently she had not forgotten to pack anything. Saskia's gaze fell on the black velvet box. She carefully took it in her hand and sat down with it on the bed. Slowly she opened the box and looked at the beautiful piece of jewelry.
It didn't take an expert to realize that this lion's head had cost a fortune. Saskia swallowed hard and closed the box again. She could not and would not accept the gift. She just put it on the nightstand. Lionel could surely return it to the jeweler, that would surely be no problem for him.
Just in case, she put the suitcase and the bag together, right next to the exit, so that everything was quickly at hand.
Once again she stroked her knee-length dress and took a deep breath. "There's no turning back now," she told herself, scraping together all her courage and heading out into the hallway with momentum. She would pull the old lion's teeth today... if necessary.
Outwardly confident, she descended the few stairs and mingled with the crowd. It wasn't long before she spotted Lionel talking to someone. Slowly she stepped closer.
Lionel was talking to the president of the polo club when he noticed a movement in the corner of his eye. As he slowly turned in the direction in question, he didn't think he saw properly. He blinked his eyes a few times, but no, it wasn't imagination!
He had never seen Saskia like this before and he had to admit that his spit was gone! Her brown hair fell in soft curls to her shoulders. The black dress flattered her fuller figure perfectly and the makeup set her pretty face skillfully in scene.
He had been staring at her for far too long, forgetting everything around him.
Saskia had to stifle a cheeky grin. She had noticed very well that she had exactly met his taste with her choice of outfit, as his gaze seemed to eat her up. But Shahbandar had missed his chance, she couldn't forgive him so easily.
The president of the club had walked away from the lord. So Lionel stood alone, still looking mesmerized at his assistant as she stepped even closer.
Now Sia could no longer suppress her grin and stood directly in front of him. "Mister Shahbandar, do you need my help for this evening?" she asked him innocently.
Lionel gritted his teeth. That Sassy addressed him formally again did not suit him at all and that she also looked at him so cheekily! But for the first time he was at a loss for words, which he himself could not believe.
Sia took another step closer and raised her hands, Lionel already thought she would hug him, but far from it. "You have something there," she said to him in a slightly wicked voice, straightening his slipped bow tie that he wore today instead of a tie. Slowly, she slid her hands down along the lapel of his jacket and looked intently into his eyes.
"Sassy," Lionel whispered huskily.
But the latter did not respond, simply turned away from him and disappeared into the crowd among the people.
Lionel remained standing in the same spot as if someone had poured a bucket of ice-cold water over him.
Saskia's face, on the other hand, was burning and she had to go to a quiet corner to calm down a bit. This action had cost her everything, because she still loved him anyway and it was hard for her to ignore him and give him the cold shoulder. Or at least to act as if the whole thing with him had meant nothing to her at all.
She went behind the mansion and leaned against the wall in the dark, looking up at the sky. How was she supposed to get through this evening without falling into his arms and kissing him. But she was far too hurt by his action with Mrs. Puznowski to give in to her own feelings.
"Let's get this madness over with..." a voice all too familiar to her spoke softly into the night.
Immediately Saskia listened up to find out the location of the person. For sure the person had not seen her yet, otherwise he would not have spoken. When she located the person, she realized that logically he was not alone.
Harry and PJ.
What were those two up to, standing so familiarly alone in the dark. Surely this couldn't be good....
Sia watched the two as they slowly moved away, talking to each other so quietly that she couldn't understand anything. Somehow she wanted to know what they were up to, but at the same time she really had problems of her own right now. But watching them a bit couldn't hurt, she thought to herself, and walked after them with some distance.
Harry and PJ were far too engrossed in their chatter to notice that they had a pursuer on their heels.
The two moved into the front area of the garden where the event was taking place and mingled with the celebrating people. Thus, Saskia also had no choice but to throw herself back into the commotion she hated so much.
Lionel looked over the crowd as far as his eyes could see, but Saskia seemed to have disappeared. By now he had regained his composure and was about to confront her.
