Lionel stubbornly finished his main course alone. His anger at Saskia grew even stronger, she just left him sitting there? He had ordered a chocolate mousse made from his dark chocolate from the chef especially for her as dessert. But she had just left.
He gruffly took the cloth napkin from his lap and wiped his mouth on it. He carelessly threw it on the table and stood up as well. "Have my dessert brought to my room!" he spoke unkindly to the servant standing at the edge of the hall. The latter only nodded quickly in reply and was glad to see Lionel go.
With giant strides, he rushed through the hallway to his gallery. There he immediately looked for Leonardo and stroked his fur. Instantly, this calmed him down a bit. At least he could always rely on his animals, he thought to himself, and sat down on one of the sofas that were standing around in the gallery. Leo followed him there and settled down at his feet.
Saskia walked through the dark garden, lit only occasionally by various lamps. Still disappointed by the course of the evening, she walked farther and farther away from the house until there was no illumination. Only now did she dare to stop and sort out her thoughts. She looked up into the sky and watched the beautifully glittering stars in the firmament. Here, without the lights of the big city, one could see so many of them as never before.
Fascinated, she watched the spectacle above her head, a single tear running down her cheek. Why was it that something unexpected always occurred in her life, and why the hell did she always develop unwanted feelings for someone who didn't return them anyway?
Impetuously she wiped her damp cheek, turned her eyes away from the night sky and looked at the estate. Imposing like its owner, it stood mightily in the otherwise open landscape. It was beautifully lit on the edge of a forest she hadn't even noticed. Several equally illuminated outbuildings stood behind it, probably housing the stables.
For a long time, Saskia stood there, taking in the nighttime surroundings. Slowly but surely, she was getting cold and it was also slightly eerie to be all alone in the dark in an unfamiliar area. Since she had no choice anyway, she slowly walked back towards the house.
Lionel was just too restless, he couldn't just sit here, he had to move some more. His tight clothing was starting to get on his nerves. He took off his jacket and laid it on the seat. Likewise, he pulled at the knot of his tie and threw it in. Lionel opened the first buttons of the shirt, immediately he got more air. However, he left his vest, which he had on over the shirt, on.
Leonardo had been watching him the whole time with his yellow eyes, but he didn't let it bother him and stayed down anyway. A few more times Lionel stroked his fur and left. He still wanted to see Icarus and the other horses. Afterwards he would enjoy his beloved dessert at the room. The thought alone made him think of Saskia again.
He stepped outside, breathed in the fresh air and walked along the gravel path to the stables. His expensive shoes made the pebbles crunch under his soles. Lost in thought, he walked to the large gate, not realizing that Saskia was in the immediate vicinity.
When Saskia saw the lord step out of the side entrance, she immediately hid in a dark corner under a tree, where the glow of the lamps could not reach her. Curious, she watched what he was about to do.
Without a jacket he looked even slimmer and taller, she noted with slight admiration. Even though she was disappointed with him and his manner, she still couldn't help but admit that he was really attractive.
When she felt halfway safe, she just couldn't help but want to know what else he was doing there at this hour. She fervently hoped that he wouldn't catch her. Slowly and on silent soles she crept up to the building. Carefully, she approached the slightly open gate and held her head in the gap, looking around.
Immediately she was greeted by the smell of straw and stables. Soft light illuminated the hall and faint whinnying and hoof trampling could be heard again and again. Lionel was standing some distance away by a horse stall. Saskia continued to watch him curiously.
Gently he stroked the mane and the neck of the horse and spoke soft words to the animal. Unfortunately, she could not understand anything because of the distance, but they were certainly gentle words to calm the animal.
Saskia watched him in amazement. Immediately she got a different feeling and her previous anger slowly disappeared. She still looked fascinated at his large hands, which slid tenderly through the fur. Inevitably, another feeling mixed in as she watched him carefully handle the animal.
Her gaze also briefly lingered on the open shirt collar that offered a small glimpse. But unfortunately, it was too far away for her to see more.
Slowly but surely it became too dangerous for Saskia to watch any longer. Who knows, if he suddenly turned to the door, he would catch her and that would be more than embarrassing.
Quickly she retreated and walked quietly, but as fast as she could, back to the house. She had already memorized the way to her room, so it was no problem to get into it immediately.
Slightly out of breath, she quickly closed the door behind her. That had gone well once again, not to imagine if he had caught her.
Completely relaxed, Lionel left the stable of horses. The fact that his clothes were once again dirty and had taken on the smell of the stable left him completely cold. Slowly he walked back, already thinking about the delicious dessert that was already waiting for him in his room. He simply loved his chocolate.
When Lionel stepped out of the bathroom, freshly showered and dried, he took the plate with the chocolate mousse and sat down with it on his sofa. He spooned the loose mousse with relish. In between he tasted again and again of the fresh strawberry and orange sauce which were garnished to it.
After he had eaten the delicious dessert, he noticed that Gem was not present. Usually she was already waiting for him every evening.
