Still in disbelief about all the day's events, Saskia shook her head. Tired, but too excited to sleep, she had been staring at the ceiling of her tiny room for minutes. No, she certainly wouldn't miss this hole for the time being. She was already so curious how her boss would live like. From what she heard, it was more than pompous and over the top, but very few people ever had the honor of entering the estate.
Nervously she thought about what all she would have to take with her, after all it would be like a small move, as the book would certainly not be done right away. But the most worrying thing was that it was already two days away!
Lionel had offered her that Mihai would pick her up with her things and drive her straight to the estate. She had gratefully accepted, since she didn't know how else she would get home to him.
Saskia had still managed to fall asleep, but it had been far too little sleep. She looked accordingly. The only thing that helped was a lukewarm shower, which she took, because she couldn't stand a cold shower. She had already received one or the other variant of it often enough.
She combed her still wet hair and put some hair mousse in it and blow-dried it over her head on full blast. When she was done with that and looked in the mirror, she looked like she had reached into the socket, which was nothing new for her.
Slightly annoyed, she combed out her natural waves and spread some extra hairspray on them to set them. The bathroom was so small that you almost suffocated when you sprayed, but she didn't want to go out into the hallway now either, and besides, that wasn't really any better. Saskia completed her personal hygiene and changed into her typical office attire.
Lionel stood in his huge dressing room and looked through the rows of suits. Sometimes he hated putting on these constricting clothes, but he could hardly go to the company naked. Sighing loudly, he picked up a dark blue suit from the rack, the underwear and light blue shirt already on. At the shelf, where all the ties were hanging, he took an equally dark blue one, which had a silver lion on it.
He looked at his reflection in the mirror and stroked his silver hair once more. Quickly he put on another shiny pair of designer shoes and went out of his room.
Mihai, as always, was waiting for him with the limousine in front of the main entrance. Lionel looked at the sky, the weather shouldn't be so bad today, he thought. Without lingering any longer, he opened the car door, got in and leaned into the soft seat.
He took the current newspaper, as he did every day, and leafed through the section on stock prices. He eyed the stock market prices tensely; after all, he had also invested part of his fortune in various funds and shares. But everything seemed to be going well, he noted with a certain satisfaction. His intuitions were not leaving him after all.
Lionel put the newspaper aside again and leaned back into the soft leather, closing his eyes briefly. Various images and scenes wandered before his inner eye, unconsciously he drew his eyebrows together, because he did not like everything he saw. He opened his eyes again and stroked his clean-shaven, well-groomed face with the fingers of his right hand and continued to think.
Why was his ex-wife bugging him again lately? He hadn't had any contact with her for years. Had she run out of the millions he had given her, just so she could disappear from his life as quickly as possible? She was of royal descent, but poor as a church mouse.
He, on the other hand, had endless money but no title. Probably, in retrospect, it was purely for this reason that the marriage had come about. Lionel was greedy for the Lord title he had received through her and she only wanted his money.
Had he and his lawyer overlooked anything in the divorce agreement that she now wanted to claim? He didn't know, he had blocked any calls from her. He didn't want to see or hear that old broom again.
Lionel had pondered the matter for so long that by now he had arrived in front of his company building. He just saw Saskia disappear inside behind the entrance portal. Immediately his mood brightened, which had been dominated only by negative thoughts for the last half hour. Maybe it would be a good day after all, he thought, while he also stepped into the building.
Having reached the top, he strode toward his office as he did almost every day, when he stopped abruptly. In front of the desk where Saskia was already sitting, the old broom, better known as his ex-wife, was standing and seemed to be waiting for him. She had not seen him yet. The day would not take a positive turn after all, he was sure of that now.
Lionel straightened up and adjusted his tie. It all helped nothing, he would have to deal with her now, so that she disappeared again as quickly as possible. Tight as a tin soldier, he walked up to her and scowled. "What do you want?" he asked without digression or friendliness.
"There you are sweetheart!" she exclaimed full of false joy as he well knew and fully recognized. Immediately a dark growl escaped him while he tried to kill her with his looks. Lionel was incredibly uncomfortable with the situation in front of Saskia.
"Come with me to my office," he grumbled darkly and pushed his ex-wife rather rudely towards the glass door, she promptly followed him.
When Saskia arrived at her workplace, a distinguished-looking elderly lady was already waiting in front of her desk. When Sia addressed her, she only said that she was waiting for Lionel.
Stealthily she watched the lady. Probably this was the woman type of her boss, slim and expensively dressed. A slight disappointment spread through her and she was annoyed with herself. What business was it of hers anyway? She couldn't care less what type of woman he preferred or not, and yet the uneasy feeling didn't go away. She tried to concentrate on her work when Lionel came around the corner.
Saskia watched in amazement as her boss treated this woman unkindly, but before she noticed anything more, he went into his office with her.
