Thankfully Jason didn't find out about Hunter taking me home and I hoped he didn't find out. Of course, I was attacked by questions as soon as he seen me.
"No, he didn't try anything Jason. Not every guy is that way." I argued back.
"Don't get an attitude bitch." He said tightening his death grip on my wrist. He had been holding it with a tight grip for so long I wanted to scream out in pain, but I knew if I did that he'd just tighten his grip more.
"So I guess I'll see you at that mud bog this weekend Jena. Your mom said you and her would be there." I heard Hunter say from behind Jason and I.
I hated that he came at this time but then I was relieved. Relieved because Jason let go
of my wrist. I glance down at my wrist and seen that it was red and purple. The pain was killing me.
"Yeah, I guess so." I said while turning to face him, trying to put on my best pain free smile. I knew I was in for a beating when school let out. It made me wish that Hunter and I had to be at the library today but we didn't. Jason looked at me angry when Hunter walked away.
"You're going to a mud bog? To see him? Your mom needs to give me some respect I am your boyfriend and I do not want you going around with another guy!" Jason yelled at me when we were at his house. Then the hitting began, I had been getting hit for what seemed like forever when there was a knock at the door.
Jason went and answered, when he opened the door I wanted to die. Hunter was standing there looking at him.
"I came to pick Jena up, her mom told me to come get her." Hunter told him while looking around. Thankfully, he hadn't seen me yet, so I ran up to Jason kissed him and ran by Hunter to get in his truck. "Um, your mom told me to take you to the hospital, something about your nephew was going to be born at any time. She gave me the directions to come get you, she's stuck at work so that's why she couldn't pick you up. Sorry if I interrupted anything between you two." He told me when he got into the truck.
I was hoping that Hunter didn't see anything when he pulled up. That would screw everything up, then I would be dead. I was excited to finally be able to hold my first and only nephew of course, but all I could think about was Jason. This would be my only nephew because my brother died in a car crash three weeks after they found out they were expecting.
"You wanna come up with me?" I asked without thinking when we pulled up to the hospital.
"Uh, yeah sure. If that's okay with you and your family." Hunter replied looking really excited.
I could tell that Hunter loved kids as soon as we walked by the nursery on the way to my cousin's room. I could just see the happiness in his eyes and that made me smile. Jason hated kids with a passion and I've wanted kids since I was like 10 but if I stayed with him I'd never have kids.
"Your family won't mind will they? I mean they've never met me and I'll..." He began.
"Hunter, my family doesn't care. They'll love you." I interrupted. He just smiled at me and followed behind me.
When we went up to the nurses desk, the woman told us that she was delivering the baby at the moment and as soon as she had him she'd come get us. We walked to the waiting area and sat there in silence. About 5 minutes later the nurse came out holding the baby. He already looked just like Justin, tears began streaming down my face as I thought about how happy he'd be right now.
"Is something wrong?" Hunter asked me as I fell into his chest. He rubbed my back as I cried.
"My brother died three weeks after they found out they were expecting. And he wanted that baby more than anything." I told him as I pulled away. I could see the hurt in his eyes as I spilled everything to him.
"Come on, let's go see the baby. And let you hold him." Hunter told me as we walked down the hospital hall way. His arm stayed around me the whole time until we got into the room.
"I wish Justin was here." Emma, Justin's girlfriend said to me when I walked in the room. I nodded and smiled at her. The baby was fast asleep.
"Emma, this is Hunter. He's a friend. Hunter this is Emma, my brother's girlfriend." I told them as I got the baby.
As I held the baby, I felt that Justin was in that room with us. He was there smiling that smile and holding Emma's hand like he always did. If only I could see him.
"Hunter, you can hold him if you want. A friend of Jena's is a friend of the family." Emma told Hunter as he smiled at the baby in my arms. He nodded and held his hands out to take him.
His name was Justin Lee, named after my brother. As Hunter held the baby, I wanted nothing more than to be with someone like that. Someone that treated me like a human-being and not a punching bag. Hunter smiled up at me and then handed the baby back to Emma.
"I better be going. I got some things to do." He said while clearing his throat.
"Okay, thanks for bringing me here. See you tomorrow." I told him and smiled at him. He walked out and I sat down beside Emma.
Mom and I left the hospital around 10 and made our way home. On our way all I could see was Hunter's amazing smile as he held my nephew. Just the thought of his smile made me smile.
I went to my room when we got home and hopped into bed. I had school the next morning and wasn't looking forward to it, Jason was going to be furious. I fell asleep faster than I normally do, I guess I had a long day.
