A few days after Ava's run in with John Walker, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes were being asked to review footage of Walker's latest sighting. Although Walker was not a fugitive, he was not in the good graces of SHIELD or the new Captain America.
"So what is John up to now?" Sam asked as he entered the room. Bucky followed behind him in his usual stoic mood.
"I am not so worried about Walker as I am the other player in this video," Nick Fury stated. "This, gentlemen, is Ava St. John. She has the protection of SHIELD, and we are curious why Walker has a sudden interest in her."
The men watched the video of the mystery woman and John. Each made a grunt when they saw the girl catch John's shield in one hand and then sling it far across the field. There was no doubt that whoever this girl was, she had been given super soldier serum. The only questions were: when did she get it and who did she get it from?
"Is she a super soldier?" Bucky asked. "If so how have we never heard of her before?"
"That isn't my story to tell, Barnes. You'll have to earn Ava's trust for her to share that with you."
"So what now?" Sam was already rising from his seat as he spoke.
"If you will do me this favor, it looks like you two are taking a trip to Texas," Fury stated. "A little town called Granville. You'll find Ava at a bar named "Tiny's". Find out whatever you can about what has Walker so interested that he would approach her at 3 a.m."
