Whore of Hydra

The next morning Sam and Bucky stood on the door to Ava's house. It was a small but neatly cared for house in a quiet neighborhood. There were a few flowers in the yard, but the Texas heat kept them from being as bountiful as they could grow. 

Sam glared at Bucky and said, "Look, I have no idea what she is going to say in there. You keep your cool. Not everyone is in the dark about Hydra."

Bucky scowled but nodded his head. He then rapped his metal arm on the door three times. A few seconds later, Ava looked out the window of the door and let them in. 

"Good morning, guys. I have fresh coffee and muffins if you are interested; otherwise let's get this over with so we can move on with our day. I have to run errands because it is my only day off this weekend." 

"We're good," Bucky growled. "I just want you to explain how you know about Hydra."

"Bucky.." Sam whispered.

"It's o.k." Ava replied. "Have a seat on the couch and I will tell you my story. It'll be easier if you listen and don't interrupt. I'll take questions afterwards," she smirked.

"I was a photojournalist in the 70's and was covering the Vietnam War. I was lucky enough to have a platoon that would allow me to shadow them in their camp. I was a small town girl from Tennessee; I worked for a paper out Nashville, but I had New York or Chicago in my sites. That was why I was in Vietnam. Unfortunately, the platoon I was with was captured by Vietnamese soldiers and taken as P.O.W's; while we were being held, some of the higher ups at Hydra came to look for test subjects. I was the only woman, so they decided to take me and 5 others. I'm not sure what happened to them." Ava let out a small sigh and stood up from her seat. She walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water and returned to the living room. 

"Sorry, I haven't spoken about this in a long time," she softly said. "Anyway, while I was with Hydra they injected me with what I discovered was the super soldier serum; it wasn't as potent as your dosage, Mr. Barnes. I am definitely stronger, but no where near your level. Mostly the serum was to help me survive the cryo chambers. They also used the mind stone to try to give me abilities." 

"It worked. I am able to manipulate people's emotions. I can also read minds and see someone's memories, but I can only do this if I am touching them. I can't do anything without physical contact."

"Hydra loved this ability. It gave them the opportunity to get information without bloodshed. Sometimes subtly is best when stealing information. I could do that."

"That's how she became the Whore of Hydra," John Walker snarled as he stormed into Ava's living room.
