Bucky hated the idea of leaving Ava alone at her house. He was worried that Walker would come back. He didn't have an excuse to stay, though, so he and Sam left shortly after their talk.

Ava was an amazing woman, he thought, she was kind even after all she had been thru. She was definitely strong, physically and emotionally. She was also beautiful. Her hair fell to her shoulders in dark waves and her eyes were deep brown, like dark chocolate. She was tall for a woman, but still had curves; curves which he had to admit felt good pressed against him when she kissed him. He jerked. Where had that thought come from? He hoped it was just the remnants of Ava's powers that made him think that. There was no way he had a thing for her!

"What is going on in that cyborg brain of yours?" Sam joked. "Are you still thinking about your little kiss with Ava?" he snickered.

"Shut up!" Bucky snapped back.

"Tell me, Buck, was that the first kiss you've had since the war? I don't imagine there were many ladies wandering around Hydra while you were there."

Bucky shot him a dirty look. "Sam, mind your own damn business. I don't want to talk to you about this." He turned and looked out the car window for the remainder of the drive back to the hotel. "After we talk to Fury, I guess we will head back to Louisiana, right?"

"No idea, man. Fury may ask us to stay here for a few days just to make sure Walker is really gone." Sam turned into the hotel parking lot as he spoke. "I hope he leaves her alone. She needs to be free to live a normal life."

"Everybody deserves that, Sam," Bucky countered with a frown. He deserved that! He just didn't know if he would ever get the chance to have it.

After the men left, Ava sat on her couch thinking about her current circumstances. She loved her life here in Texas; she loved her job; she loved Tommy and Scott. But if Walker found out about her and he had a "job" for her, that meant other people knew about her. If that was the case, she may have to create a new life somewhere else.

She was lucky to get to keep her real name when SHIELD found her. If she started over, she would need a new everything: a new name, a new Social Security number, a new history. It was overwhelming to think about. All she wanted was a quiet, normal life. All she needed was a quiet life all by herself.

Maybe that wasn't entirely true. She hadn't dated or even been close to a man since she escaped Rumlow. She had zero desire to be around most men for long periods of time. Tommy and Scott were the exceptions, but since they were married to each other, she didn't have to worry about any desire towards her. Sometimes when men touched her in passing she could see what they thought. Most of it was sexual; and that bothered her. With Tommy she didn't have to worry about that; the only thoughts and emotions that came from him was platonic love and friendship.

But something happened when she kissed Bucky. Usually she was unaffected when she was trying to accomplish her mission, but with Bucky she actually felt something. She wasn't sure if it was just from using her powers like that for the first time in a while, but something was there. It both excited and terrified her
