"So, when are you having the housewarming party?" Jami asked.
Two weeks had passed since their move. Jami had joined Joni for a shopping trip, and they had stopped for lunch. It was one of the last warm days of the early fall and they sat outside on the terrace to enjoy the weather. Joni ordered iced water and chicken salad while Jami had beer and pizza.
"I guess in a few weeks, we'll let you know as soon as we can. Galina is coming for a visit, but she doesn't know her work schedule yet. So we'll wait until she does and throw the party on the same weekend," Joni said, taking a sip of his water. "Oh, I don't remember if I told you, but I signed up for a gym instructor course that starts next weekend!"
"You didn't," Jami smiled at the excitement he picked out from Joni's tone. "Where is it held?"
"Lohja, it's from Friday to Sunday and then there's another weekend held in October. If I like it, I can continue further. Perhaps I'll become a personal trainer or something." Joni shrugged. "I'm still interested in physiotherapy studies as well, but we'll see."
"Okay, well, perhaps you could plan a gym program for me... Although the greater challenge might be to get me excited to train at a gym." Jami chuckled, taking a sip of his beer, watching as Joni ate his healthy salad. "You make me feel like a lousy person," he admitted jokingly.
"Come on, don't stress," Joni said. "I have photoshoots next week. I have to avoid everything that might make me bloated. That pizza looks delicious."
"I wouldn't be cut out for that," Jami admitted. "Plus, I'm too short." He grinned. "But, speaking of which... I have this idea that I've been cooking. I'm leaving my current workplace, everything is still in the starting pit, but I'm setting up a salon with my co-worker and..."
"Oh, that sounds exciting!" Joni interrupted, and Jami nodded, smiling.
"I am excited! She tried to talk me into this for months. Now I started feeling like I could use something new in my life and yesterday I told her I accepted. I just need to end my current contract, which I plan to do on Monday. Just collecting the courage, I guess," Jami chuckled somewhat nervously.
"Oh, you think there will be some drama?" Joni asked, cocking his eyebrow.
"Most likely," Jami sighed. "The owner can be a bit of a drama queen. Which is part of the reason we both want to leave... Anyway, we already found a place. All we need to do is sign the lease, which we'll do tomorrow. But obviously, setting up a new salon needs a lot of marketing. I have a feeling that the owner of our current place won't be so open about where our customers will find us if they ask, so..."
"Well, if I can help in any way..." Joni started.
"Funny you should offer," Jami grinned excitedly. "Because you can! We thought about arranging a hair fashion show to attract new customers and perhaps get the word out to our old ones. I know the owner of one gay club and I plan to ask him if we could arrange it there and since you have modeling experience..." Jami gave Joni a hopeful look. "Could you be one of our models? I would cut your hair for free for an entire year."
"Sure, of course. Just as long as you won't do anything too wild, like dye my hair green or anything like that," Joni chuckled.
"I promise!" Jami swore and smiled enthusiastically. "There is so much to do. This is so exciting! I will let you know the date as soon as I can and if you could ask Misha as well?"
"I can try," Joni promised, although he knew it would be difficult to convince Misha. He wasn't the kind of person who enjoyed parading on stage. "I know some photographers if you need pictures as well. And I can ask some models I know if they would be available, if you like?"
