It's a Sunday evening and I'm currently in the backseat of my 4-door sedan. I decided to sit smack dab in the middle of my back seat while Yoongi is driving and Jeongguk is in the passenger seat. Jeongguk is holding Yoongi's free hand, trying to calm Yoongi down as much as possible.
We are heading to Jeongguk's parents' home for a family dinner that they invited us to. This isn't going to be the first time Yoongi will be meeting Jeongguk's parents, but this will be the first time we will be properly conversing with them. When he met them at the hospital, we were all spread about in the waiting room that Yoongi didn't really speak much with Jeongguk's father, Youngjae. But, tonight will be different and Yoongi had expressed to us how he was slightly nervous about the dinner before we left his house. I offered to drive but Yoongi insisted, claiming that the drive would help calm his nerves.
Yoongi's aware that Youngjae has his reservations about our relationship because of what Jeongguk's mom, Inna, told him when the two of them spoke at the hospital.
Inna didn't sugar-coat things with Yoongi and told him that she and Jeongguk's dad were both raised only being familiar with the traditional ways of relationships. They were brought up to believe that the only acceptable relationship is between two people. She said, for her, she is able to get with the times and can understand how different forms of relationships can work for other people and she respects that. She said that Youngjae is at least accepting of same sex relationships but cannot wrap his brain around the idea of a thriving relationship involving more than two people. She voiced to us that hopefully, in time, Jeongguk's dad can eventually understand that this dynamic works for us.
Even though I've known Jeongguk's parents for years, I cannot help but also be apprehensive about this dinner. Instead of dwelling on it during the drive, I occupy my mind with social media. I scroll through Instagram and see a picture Jeongguk decided to post earlier today that Yoongi had taken of him two weeks ago, when they took that memorable walk together.

It's been a couple weeks since the three of us confessed our love for one another. When Yoongi and Jeongguk got back to me that night, on the beach, after they told each other the L word, I could sense how happy the two of them were and when they joined me to sit back on the blanket over the sand, we embraced each other and even got carried away with a kiss we all shared together. That night will always be a memorable one for us, because that was the night the three of us knew how much we meant to one another.
