"You should have told me!" Arthur stopped, just before knocking, when heard Merlin's voice yell out from inside the physicians chambers.

"What difference would it have made, hmm? Would you have risked your neck for him? Put your destiny on the line for one man?" Gaius questions.

Destiny?

"Yes! I would have!"

"Then you'd be dead right now. Maybe Arthur too!"

Me? Arthur thought, What do I have to do with anything?

"You don't know that," Merlin insists.

(Going along with this whole destiny thing like it was normal?)

"Really? It wouldn't have changed a thing. Now go do your chores," he said, just before I heard some shuffling around, which was quickly silenced by Merlin's voice ringing out again.

"I had a right to know."

Six simple words cause everything to go silent just beyond the door.

"And you do know, now."

"No, I had a right to know before he died Gaius! You knew who we were looking for. You knew who he was. You had the opportunity and you STILL didn't tell me!"

'Who we were looking for'? He doesn't mean Balinor, surely...

"It wasn't my place to tell you, your mother-"

"Didn't tell me either! Nobody told me and now it's too late because he's dead."

Nobody spoke. I was just about to knock on the door when I heard Merlin's voice yet again. It was softer this time though.

"It's too late now Gaius, because my father is dead and I knew him for no more than a few days."

Okay, it can't be Balinor. Right? He didn't have any children. Didn't he?

I could hear Merlin turn to leave, and I almost ran, before I heard Gaius speak up.

"Destiny saw a problem and interfered, just like it did with Freya. It took the necessary course of action."

Freya? Who the hell is Freya?

Merlin's footsteps stopped suddenly.

"You do not get to bring up Freya." Merlin's voice was harsh, "It isn't your place."

Merlin started towards the door again. I bolted, quietly, down the corridor before turning around again, making it look like I was just arriving. When I saw his usually grinning face, it was both angry and sad. As soon as he saw me, however, he flashed me a signature Merlin grin (one that didn't quite reach his eyes) before turning and walking the other way.

I definitely have some things to think about, and some answers to get.
