"Why do you hate me so much Emrys!" Mordred asks harshly, "What have I done to make you distrust me?"

"Nothing." Merlin replies shortly

"Then why can't we be friends!"

Merlin sighs.

"I don't know Mordred! I have so many people telling me that you're the one to kill Arthur and you can't be trusted!"

Mordred goes silent.

"I would never." He speaks finally.

"But I saw it. In a vision that a druid seer showed me. It was terrible and I can't let it happen."

"Did you ever stop to think that maybe you're just pushing me away! Maybe if you were to give me a chance, it wouldn't come to pass."

Merlin goes silent.

Truth be told the thought had crossed his mind, but only briefly and he rarely had anytime to himself to think about it.

"I'm sorry." Merlin apologized suddenly, catching Mordred off guard.

"What?"

"You're right. It's unfair to judge you for something you've yet to do."

Both men are stunned by Merlin's words.

"Thank you Emrys." Mordred replies

"Merlin," he corrects, "You should call me Merlin."

The druid thinks for a moment before replying, "Merlin it is then."

The two sorcerers share a smile before going their separate ways.
