A very unassuming building, quite busy if you weighed the customer traffic with the environment.
The people for some reason got their confectioneries from here. He was yet to know what the fuss was about, well, there was no time like the present.
He finally made himself visible by stepping out of the carriage and walking towards the bakery.
This should be fun...
The guard got him a seat where he could watch the store's activities comfortably.
He'd been there barely thirty minutes when his sisters came in. Followed closely by their guards. They hadn't seen him, but their guards did and bowed in greeting to him.
He nodded his head but kept watch on his sisters.
They walked up to the counter where the person of his interest greeted them with a warm smile that was returned.
They were ushered to their seats and soon served by Noah himself.
His cup of coffee and slice of chocolate cake had been ignored till one of the brave servers decided to ask if he wanted something else
Looking closely at the woman he saw she was elderly, and had some features as Noah.
'Not at all ma'am, thank you ', at least he wasn't rude.
Deciding to give the cake a taste, he took the fork set on the plate and took a bite.
Not bad.
His mood turned to amusement when a guy hesitantly walked up to the table his sisters were seating.
Their guards tried to signal the presence of the boss, a raised brow stopped the thought from coming to fruition.
Guess today was going to be easier than he anticipated.
He'd seen the guy who caught his queen's attention and the one who caught Laura's attention.
As though being compelled Laura with flushed cheeks looked up and locked eyes with Luigi. He could read the prayers in her alarmed eyes.
The ground couldn't swallow her fast enough.
Francine wondering what had Laura's attention turned and gasped as she saw Luigi looking at the man who seemed to have turned a lot of shades lighter.
Without a word the two sister's stood up from their seat and walked to his table.
He still looked amused but they knew they were done for. Their only prayer was that mamma got to them quickly before he passed his punishment.
'Don', the both greeted with curtseys.
He didn't respond, his eyes still on the man who looked seconds away from passing out.
Hurry Mamma! Laura begged subconsciously.
The door chimed open and Mrs Russo walked in. Her eyes immediately going for her children. Hosea behind her.
'What is the matter?', she asked as she rounded the corner. She took a seat while Hosea took the other one the guard quickly made seats available for them. Silence had engulfed the bakery.
'Go on', came Luigi's response with a smirk.
'Well?', she turned to the girls. Laura's date couldn't leave as a guard stood behind him.
'I had a date this afternoon so we both came out for it, with guards Mamma', Laura spoke up.
'What then is the issue orgoglio mio?', she asked as she sipped the tea the guard ordered for her.
(My pride)
'Keep talking', his eyes remained amused. His mamma knew he was toying with his sisters.
'We didn't tell Luigi before we left home', Francine spoke up.
'That's hardly news, you rarely need to tell anyone where you're heading to cause you have your guards with you', Mrs Russo said already having an inkling to what the problem is.
'Bring him', Laura nearly passed out from fear. This could go wrong very quickly.
The man didn't have time to say anything before he was hauled infront of the Don.
'Tell me young man, with whose permission did you seek for my sister's attention?',
'I -i -i di-', he was so scared. No one in the shop would doubt that.
Laura tried speaking but a look from her mamma shut her up.
'If a man has caught your attention the next thing to do is let him do the chasing not the other way around. Didn't your brother disapprove of this already?',
'Yes Mamma', she whispered.
'So be ready to face the consequences of your foolishness. Hosea come walk me to the carriage, I've suddenly lost interest in the cake. Send these two home', effectively leaving the trembling man alone with Luigi.
'Go', was all he needed to hear to run for the hills and vow to have nothing to do with the Russo sisters.
One near death experience was enough to last him a lifetime.
Noah watched the whole exchange, and like everyone else minded his business.
The Don was scary, even with his smile. He didn't looked sinister, but it was still unsettling. Poor guy, he was very sure this date wasn't his idea. At least he was leaving with his life which was a good thing.
The last thing his family needed was for the Don to end anybody under their roof.
Not only would they not know how to handle the incident, it was very very bad for business. Not to mention his mama could die right off due to a heart attack, his papa right after her. This was his life work, he worked so hard to get this place to where it was at the moment.
A shadow over him got his attention.
The Don stood in front of him making him gulp.
'I want these delivered to the estate in two weeks time. Can you deliver?',
He stuttered a yes without looking at the list. The Don smirked before leaving. His breathe caught in his throat but he somehow controlled himself till the Don left.
He quickly looked through the list and began making arrangements in his head on how to pull this off in time for whatever the Don wanted them for.
The estate was out of bounds for a reason. Guess he was going to hold on to this note for access then.
Time to go to the market for ingredient shopping.
