Luigi had asked her to move back to her room on his floor, for his peace of mind. She'd planned to say no, but once she opened her mouth it was yes she said.

It'll look like her survival depended on him being near which was in some way true as she was scared of him.

Of what he was capable of should she say no.

Even when he'd invited her for breakfast, she'd gone without an argument. This man gunned down Noah in her presence, she wasn't about to put anybody at risk ever again.

If he even asked her to marry him that afternoon she'd do it. No one needed to get hurt for her comfort.

And Luigi could tell that his bride was scared of him. Easily agreeing to whatever he asked.

He didn't want a puppet.

That was why he had men in the famiglia. They were paid to follow his orders. Not his bride.

He watched her force herself to eat, while glancing at him from time to time. This was his doing, but he didn't like this particular outcome.

'You know, you don't have to eat that much if you're full', she gave him a doubtful look. All the threats flashing through her eyes.

The pain in her shoulder that stayed resurfaced. She caught her hand before it reached the said shoulder but Luigi caught the movement.

'I'm sorry', she looked at him wondering what was going on.

'About your shoulder, there are better ways to express my displeasure ',

She was shocked.

'Ummm, thank you. I'm okay now, it's just the memory of it. But I'm okay ', she was waiting for the other hat to drop.

'Alright, tell me about your day',

'Oh, well I didn't train today because of you know, obvious reasons. Then i-', on and on she went with Luigi laughing at some point or giving a response.

She had a smile on her face when the whole affair was through.

By dinner time she was actually looking forward to it. She'd found a squirrel nest in the trees in the garden and couldn't wait to tell him about it.

He'd raised a brow at that and followed her so she could show him where she saw it.

Then one of the days he asked her if she could read to him from a book.

'Any book?', she asked looking at him. She was almost used to his eyes now.

'Yes',

'Even the bible?', she asked to throw him off but instead he smiled and said 'if that's what you choose',

She promptly went to her room to retrieve her bible. She looked at him daring him to say no. All he did was smile and say go on.

She opened the bible to the book of Genesis and began reading, 'Genesis chapter one from verse one. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void, darkness was upon the face of the deep', she paused to look at him.

He nodded and she continued till she was done with the chapter.

'Good night' she said on her way out

'Good night amore, thank you',

She left to her room wondering what was going on. This was too good to be true, what exactly was going through his head.

Closing her door she kept her bible and changed for bed.

As she slept the connecting door which she wasn't aware of opened to reveal Luigi. There he stood in the shadows watching her sleep.

The light was gradually returning to her eyes, she wasn't looking so worn. He smiled as she turned in her sleep, her hair roughened by the movement.

The window she always left open was open per usual. So he crossed the room to shut it. Movement outside the window caught his eye.

Definitely not a guard.

With brows raised he watched till the person scaled to the window. He moved back into the shadows, wanting to know how this would play out.

The intruder made his way successfully into the room and made the fatal mistake of heading towards Sarah's bed.

Before his hand could touched her a knife was lodged in his back.

Not given the time to react, Luigi dragged the person out of the room through her doors.

The clicking of the locks woke her up. She immediately sat up and pulled her blanket up to her chin. The scene was unnerving.

'Go back to sleep amore, we'll talk in the morning', he banged the door shut making Sarah yelp.

The intruder was unmasked and handed to Hosea with instructions to keep him alive till morning and round all the guards on rotation for the night to the front yard.

The commotion was too much to ignore so Sarah dressed up and headed to a place she found so she could look over the front yard.

'I'm only going to ask once. Who and who were supposed to cover the grounds behind my chambers?', the men separated as asked.

'Rotations for one hour ago till now?', the six of them stepped out.

'Where were you when someone entered the Donna's chambers tonight?', he'd pulled out a knife earlier and a gun was by his feet.

With there was no response he threw the knife at the person standing at the middle so the knife hit his arm.

'If I have to ask again you lot would bleed out slowly tonight',

'Don we paired up for the watch sir, they took the first watch and were to be relieved by them-', the knife hit him next in his shoulder.

'Round them up Hosea, it looks like you lot have become lazy', he turned and looked straight at Sarah who didn't dodge or run.

Walking up to his floor his opened her door to find her pacing.

'If you leave that window open again I'd tan your hide!', he grabbed her and resisted the urge to shake her repeatedly for good measure.

'Do you understand me?',

'Intesa',

(Understood)

He pushed her away before he did something he'd regret come morning.

'Come, you'll be in my bedroom tonight',

'I can't', she said hesitantly

'And why not?',

'Ummm, I ... It's',

'Do I have to drag it out of you then?', the warning was crystal.

'No, it's just that it's that time of the month. I wouldn't want to mess up your beddings and-',

'The maids have cleaned worse in that room. Now come!',

She trudged behind him hoping he'd change his mind.

This man had zero regard for propriety.
