Second Ultrasound

(AN: Life got a little busy all of a sudden so sorry about the small break, but things are settling down and I'll hopefully be able to go back to more frequent uploads)

They had officially moved, and Kane was glad for it to be over. He had been banned from moving anything, even light things, so he had decided to start unpacking things so he could still help out, but then he was banned from that too. After a couple of arguments, he was allowed to unpack again.

Now everything was done. Kane and Regie's bedroom was next to what would become the nursery. Now they needed to get furniture and baby things to put inside the nursery. Kane also had an appointment to see his new doctor, and he was ready to get his second-trimester ultrasound.

Before the appointment, Regie and Kane decided that they didn't want to know the gender of the baby. They had a few reasons for choosing this. They thought that the mystery was nice, they knew ultrasounds weren't always correct, and they also didn't want their baby to be subjected to gender norms and stereotypes even before birth. They didn't just want all pink or blue things for their baby.

Regie and Kane went to the doctor's office early to fill out all the paperwork for a new patient on the appointment day. They met the doctor, and she was very nice. They went over everything with her, and then finally, it was time for the ultrasound.

Kane was nervous, of course, but he was mostly excited. The doctor began the ultrasound, starting with the head, the spine, and then the face. Kane felt himself getting teary-eyed, and he held Regie's hand.

"That's our baby," Kane whispered. Regie smiled and gently stroked the back of Kane's hand with his thumb.

The doctor continued with the ultrasound. "We talked a bit earlier that you weren't feeling anything yet. If you look here, the placenta is at the front, which is perfectly normal, but it does make it a bit harder to feel things. No worries, though. You will start feeling things a little bit later on in the pregnancy." The doctor explained.

"Looks like baby is awake," She told them as she continued to look at different parts of the baby to get the information she needed. Kane and Regie both smiled, watching the screen and seeing the baby's small movements.

After the ultrasound, the doctor goes over the information with them and tells them that their baby is healthy.

Soon they are on their way home, and Kane is holding the pictures they got from the appointment. He can't stop smiling as he looks at the pictures and rests one hand on his belly.

"Do you want to go right home, or should we do some shopping while we are out?" Regie asks. Kane takes a minute to think about it.

"I want to go home and show everyone the pictures, but can we go through a drive-through somewhere and get food on the way home?" He asks.

"Of course," Regie says.

When they get back to the house, Regie carries in the food, and Kane brings the pictures. Kane goes to find his brother while Regie takes the food into the kitchen.

Ty is sitting in his room typing away on his laptop. When Kane knocks on the door, he calls for him to come in. As Kane enters, Ty saves what he is working on and sets his laptop to the side. "Do you want to see the pictures?" Kane asks, walking over and holding them out proudly.

Ty smiles. "Of course," he responds. He takes the pictures and looks at them. "The baby grew so much since the first set of images. My little niece or nephew is actually looking like a baby now." He smiles happily and hands the photos back to Kane.

"I have to go to the kitchen and eat now, but I wanted to show you first," Kane said.

"Ok, go enjoy your food. Don't forget to send Mom a picture of them later, though," Ty tells him. Kane nods and heads back to the kitchen. He looked for the others on his way back, wanting to show off the photos to everyone.

He found Seb and Justin in the living room. "Hey guys, look what I got," he said, holding up the photos. Justin put his phone away and stood up.

"Oh! Let me see them!" He said, excited to have more pictures to put in the baby book they had already started. Kane hands him the photos and smiles while Justin and Seb look at them.

"The baby kinda looks like a little alien right now," Seb laughs a bit. "A cute alien," he adds.

Kane rolls his eyes but chuckles. "Well, I guess you aren't wrong since the baby isn't fully developed yet," he says. "Do you guys know where Oliver is? He usually is waiting for me to back from appointments," Kane asks.

"Oh, he was waiting, but we didn't know when you would be back, so Darren tried to get him to go lay down and rest for a while," Justin explains.

Seb nods. "I think they went to the pack room. Since you nested in there, it's more relaxing," Seb told him.

Kane smiles, and he is beaming with pride at the fact that the nest he made for his pack got complimented and is being used to help his pack members relax. Kane was only nesting for himself or Regie at the old house, but when they moved, he felt like he wanted to make a nest big enough for everyone that they could all use, so he put it in their new pack room. He has a small nest in the bedroom for just him and Regie, though he is sure the other rooms in the house will have small nests soon enough.

Since Oliver is resting, he decides to find Ryan first and then eat before disturbing Oliver and Darren. He finds Ryan in his room and knocks before entering. "Hey, wanna see the ultrasound pictures?" he asks.

Ryan smiles. "Have you shown everyone already?" Ryan asks as he takes the pictures to look at them.

"Almost everyone," Kane admits and smiles. "When I saw the baby on the screen, I almost started crying. I'm so attached to them already, and I want you guys to be excited too," He says as he gently rubs his tummy.

"We are excited. This baby is going to be the most loved and spoiled baby in the whole world," Ryan says, chuckling and passing back the pictures.

Kane smiles. "Oh definitely," he agrees. The two chat a bit more before Kane goes back to the kitchen to eat. After he eats, he decides to go see Oliver and Darren.

He quietly opens the door to the pack room. Darren is lying down on his back, Oliver is lying on his stomach with an arm over Darren's torso, and his head is tucked into Darren's neck. Kane smiles at them and waves a bit to catch Darren's attention.

Darren looks up from his phone and smiles. "Hey, he just fell asleep like twenty minutes ago. He's had a lot on his plate lately, so I think we should let him sleep for a bit," Darren says quietly.

Kane nods. "Well, when he wakes up, you guys should come to look at the photos from the ultrasound," he replies quietly. When Darren gives him a thumbs up, he quietly leaves the room to let them rest.
