Shouldn't Be Alone

Chapter 5

"What are you doing here, Emily?" Alexis says coldy.
"It's EMMA." I mutter, "and I was just leaving. With... Cole." I say, I giving him the chance to show himself
"Oh my god! Cole get away from her... She'll probably try to ruin you or something..." She says rudely breaking us apart.
I back up, and for some reason feel upset, Alexis starts flirting with Cole stupidly and ugh... I realize I shouldn't waste my time and I grab my bag and go.
"Leaving so soon?" Alexis says with a smirk.
"I'm leaving, too." Cole says suddenly.
"Well... I... I'll see you at lunch!" She says failing to swoon the guy.
I walk a little faster than him because even though I've only known him for, what? 7 minutes, he's given me a player vibe.

But wait... Why do I care?
He grabs me by the shoulder and makes me stop. Suddenly we're so close together, my face begins to blush.
"What was that all about?" He says,
"Well... I- I," I try to think of a cover up because I didn't want to ruin this "friendship" we have developed slowly "I... I wanted to get to class and it seems I was in the middle of you two." I state, standing tall.
"Me and Alexis?" He says surprised, "there's nothing there, trust me." He says.

So here's what I've found out... I think I might like this guy, who saved me from falling on my face... Twice. But not only that but, my worst enemy likes this guy too. Oh great. This is gonna be a special new life at Old Oak. We both arrive to class 5 seconds before the bell rings and immediately we get stares from all over.

Wow, this guy must really be something, I thought.
Before I sit down I go up to the teacher and introduce myself, she greets my back and tells me she hopes I do my very best. I see Hannah who's looking so shocked by me because I went from getting my science book to coming to my 2nd class with the "cool" guy. I sit down next to her and completely ignore Cole the rest of the period. Before the late bell rings, of course, Hannah has to ask "How. What. Why. When and where did this happen?" All I say is "Oh nothing... But I'll tell you this much..." I say leaning closer to her, "I'm pretty sure I've fallen for this guy."

(3rd period/ Homeroom with Coleman)
"Okay spill." She demands.
"Please wait as we transfer you demand" I say. I put my bag underneath my chair and begin to explain...
"Woah... So you LITERALLY fell for him.." She says still looking shocked.
"Yeah pretty much.." I say.
I heard my phone ring so I took it out of my hoodie pocket and read the message...

MOM: hey em, I have your clothes here at the front office, I also brought your gym shoes because you left them at home! Be careful next time you eat breakfast and watch where you're going!

I ask Mrs. Coleman if I could go to the front office to get my change of clothes and of course Hannah volunteers to come with me. The halls were actually empty but that was only because it was homeroom time. Once we got my clothes from the front office we both went into the bathroom. I locked the stall and took of the mint green hoodie Hannah had given me. Then I changed into my new clothes and put the sticky old ones into the bag.
"You look much better..." Hannah said.
"Don't you think?" I say "although I was rocking the 'teenage girl covered in Starbucks and tried to hide it' look" I say smiling. We both headed out and started walking back when suddenly we heard a conversation that mention my name multiple times... And it sounded like it came from a familiar voice, too...
