[ 25 years old ]

(Y/N)'s POV:
I was staying in my room, just writing something in my notebook about the man I had liked since we were teenagers. I just watched him from afar. We only talk and meet once in a while, so he might have forgotten about me. But not me, because I realized how much I liked him after that day and the next few days.

I found out about him when he was nineteen years old, and he now has a girlfriend. Which is true, and I was saddened instead of happy for him at that time. I don't understand my feelings. If you love someone, you should be happy for them. I don't understand mine, and I didn't even get a chance to be with him. And today, the news from the town was that they are now engaged and will be holding an engagement party at La Casa Madrigal tonight. It's been many years, and the feelings remain the same.

Should I have to get over it? Why should I still like him now that he has someone else? Do I think I'll get another chance to be with him? (Y/N), I think you're a total fool.

And, yes, the man I liked was Camilo Madrigal. He's now engaged to his girlfriend, or, as he called her now, his fiancée.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

While in my thoughts, I heard a knock at our house. And I heard someone was slowly coming into my room.

"Hi, (Y/N)! Are you there??" Oh, Cristina, it's just my best friend. That person who cares for me, whether I am sad or happy. She'll also be there in my darkest and brightest times.

"Yes, I'm here! Come on in," I said. Then she walks into my room. She does seem to have news or to be sharing something.

"Hey, how are you?" she said while coming closer to me.

"I'm good. What about you?" I asked as I look at her.

"Likewise. What were you writing?" she said as she looked at my notebook.

"As always, him."

"Hmm, I see. Anyway, have you heard about his engagement party tonight?" she asked as she sat in my bed and I stayed in my study table chair.

"Camilo's?"

"Yep, look, you really knew, huh," she said as she laughed.

"Yes, of course," I said with a grin. "But, is it true?" My face then turned into a questionable expression.

"Of course, it is true. I also received an invitation from them. Haven't you received yours yet?" she asked as she showed the invitation card.

"No, I haven't checked my mailbox. Maybe, mamá saw that already," I replied as I looked at my notebook.

"Why don't we check it out together, or ask tía about it?" she said.

"Oh yeah, let's check it now," I agreed as I got up to my seat, and Cristina did the same.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

We checked the mailbox outside my house, but there was nothing there. mamá probably got them all.

"There was nothing..." I mumbled.

"Let's ask tía." She was holding my wrist as we walked back into the house to find mamá in the kitchen.

While in the kitchen, we saw mamá cooking something. Then, we proceed to ask her.

"Mamá, did you receive an invitation card that was about the engagement party?" I asked.

"From the Madrigals? Yes, I received them. Better prepare tonight, mi vida," she answered as she smiled to me.

"Yeah yeah, may I see it, ?"

"Sure, you may see it in the living room. I placed that there," she informed.

"Okay , thank you!" I said, and we went now to the living room.

When we saw it, I opened and observed the invitation card.

"So, is this the invitation card?" I asked as I looked at it.

"Yep, we literally had the same invitation card, and of course, everyone in town was invited," she said as she chuckled.

"Right." I chuckled as well, and I read the invitation card.

These words express a lovely message about the engagement party and the couple.

Sweet.

"Deep in thought, (nickname)?" Cristina said while smiling as she looked at me.

"Oh uh, It's just too sweet. Y'know, how lovely Camilo and his fiancée are." And his fiancée will never be me. Ay, self, just move on.

"I get that they are lovely, but you know, I had this feeling that you're... pretty thinking something is in pain right now," she said.

"Well, it's just temporary," I reassured as I smiled.

"Move on, girl. There are other guys out there that deserve you."

"I'm trying! It's just, I don't know, maybe I always think of him, and I hat-" The words that I was supposed to say were cut off by her.

"It's fine, you know, love is at the right time. Don't worry, bestie, everything will be alright. Also, what if you find another Camilo, but different?" she said as she patted my shoulder. I have no idea if I'm really thinking differently right now.

...different Camilo...

"Yeah yeah, What if I might stay single forever?" I thought. I didn't expect that I said that either.

"Wait, no way," she replied as she chuckled.

"Not really. If I ever like a man and he is betrothed to someone else again. No, I'm not going to hope that someone will love me as much as I love them. God doesn't like me-" I said, and she started to laugh.

"Hey- no, God does want you. Just- wait for the right time," she said as she laughed at every word.

"Okay!" This time I laughed. I knew I could wait. I'll give myself a chance.

"Also, if you like someone, you should do something about it before it's too late. Like when Camilo has a girlfriend and you're here just watching him be happy with someone who isn't you," she advised.

"You're right. I'm kind of afraid." I sighed as I looked down.

A/N: It seems (Y/N) is immature here. I'm sorry. Or I think I made her a dramatic or a soft-hearted person who gets hurt easily for a simple thing, and they're not even together with Camilo. What did I do? Anyway, let me know if it is okay. 💀
