CHAPTER 61

"Hey."

Kylo looked up from the papers. His frown was very deep.

"Where have you been?"

"Just around the place. Bakit?"

He exhaled. "I was worried of course."

"I'm fine. You know I can protect myself, silly." Umupo ako sa mesa nito paharap rito. "Long day?"

He nodded. "Long day. Can we go home now?"

Inayos ko ang kuwelyo nito. "How does a dinner at your mansion sound?"

"At my parents? Nah...I think I'm too tired to have a word war with my mother." Hinila ako nito palapit. "We can go home...have dinner..."

I chuckled and pushed his chest. "Halika na. Huwag ka ng kung ano-ano ang sinasabi mo."

He followed me since I was dragging him already. I sat on the driver seat so he had no choice but to sit on the passenger's seat.

"Why are you so giddy? I'm more worried than excited."

"We're just gonna have a delicious dinner okay?"

He just shrugged and closed his eyes. He must have had a really long day.

Nang makarating kami ni Kylo ay ginising ko na ito. I went out from the driver's seat and to the passenger side. I opened the door and rained kisses on his face.

"We're here?"

"We are Kyloves. Come na."

He lazily followed me to their house. Nagulat pa si Kiana na makita ako. She ran to me ang gave me a big hug.

"Ate Patch!"

"Hey princess."

"Sabi ni Kuya Erwin pumunta ka raw dito kanina."

"I did."

"You came here? I thought-" Nakalapit na pala si Kylo sa amin ng kapatid nito.

"Oh. You're finally here. Dinner is ready."

Inakay pa ako ni Madam Inocencia sa hapag. All of them were gawking at us. Must be weird seeing us in good terms. Pinaupo na ako nito sa upuan bago sumunod iyung iba naming kasama.

"Ma'am-"

"It's Mom, for you. Tignan mo, ang dami kong pinaluto para sa iyo. At siyempre may niluto ako diyan. And I seldom cook tanong mo pa si Nanay Carm."

"Titikman ko po Ma'am...uhmm...Mom."

Madam Inocencia smiled warmly. "Damihan mo ang kain ha." Tinignan nito ang pamilya na nakatanga sa aming dalawa. "What are you waiting for? Umupo na kayo at ng makapagdasal na ako."

Obviously, Kylo, Kiana , and their father are still gawking at us but they seated on their respective chairs.

"What's happening?" Bulong ni Kylo sa akin. I just smiled at him and closed my eyes for the prayer.

When we started eating, panay ang lagay ng nanay ni Kylo sa plato ko. Napatigil lang kami nang tumayo na si Kylo.

"What the hell is happening? Something is off."

"Anak, you see, Patch and I are on better terms now. She talked to me this afternoon. I was enlightened and I was wrong. I am mad at the wrong person. I am working Kylo, to gain your trust again. And of course, I heard you just got recently engaged. Dapat lang naman na magkaroon ng celebration. Knowing you, you wouldn't want a grand one. So here, we are having an intimate dinner."

"Mom..."

"I am a work in progress. I feel ashamed of how I acted. I hope you and Patch can forgive me."

Nilapitan ito ni Kylo. "This means a lot to me. To us to have your blessing. I don't have a second Mom. Yes, I was mad but I still love you, Mom."

Pinunasan nito ang mga luha sa gilid ng mata. "I missed you anak. Welcome home."

I smiled at the scene. Even Kiana joined the hug. Ito lang naman ang gusto ko. Na hindi na sila mag-away away pa.

Kylo looked at me and asked me to come. I joined the hug immediately. My heart feels so warm. This is how a family is. This is how it feels to finally have a family.

When we got back to our seats, nanatiling nakatayo ang nanay ni Kylo.

"I also have an announcement. I am planning on opening another foundation. A foundation to help women and children who were battered and domestically abused."

"Really Mom?"

"Yes. And I think I found someone to help me manage that." She smiled at me.

Kylo held my hand and kissed my temple. "I think she's the perfect woman for the job, Mom."

"Salamat po." I said. Everything is too much for today. 

Kylo and I decided to stay in their mansion that night.

Nakaupo kami sa garden nila ngayon. We are just looking at the sky, contented to sit silently by each other.

"Remember when I caught you smoking here?"

I chuckled. "I gave up smoking because of you."

"I never told you to stop."

"Yes but I noticed how uncomfortable you are when I do. I'm an occasional smoker so the withdrawal part wasn't so hard."

Isinandal nito ang ulo sa balikat ko. He intertwined our hands as he did.

"Everything is falling into place." Sabi nito.

"It seems so."

"I know you're a brave woman. You faced my mother today and talked to her."

"You know Kylo, I always wanted a family no matter how much I deny it. Normal naman na maghangad ng bagay na wala sa iyo eh. Even if I felt I never had one, ayaw ko namang masira ang sa iyo. Your mother loves you. Hindi ka niya iniwan kahit na hindi magkasundo. Kahit na ganoon siya, she still stool as your mother. Mine...well, she's out there somewhere."

"She just lost the chance to be a mother to a great daughter."

"Am I really worthy to be in your family? Do I deserve-"

"No one is not deserving of a family. Each one...even the most evil person has a family. You are not an exemption. To me, you are one of the people who should have someone beside them. You have been alone for a long time, Chinn. I wish you'll see yourself deserving of love and a family. Here I am...my family and I...we are your home now. And soon we'll have our own."

Tears started streaming my face. Napansin marahil ni Kylo iyon kaya tinignan ako nito. Hinawakan nito ang mga pisngi ko at pinunasan ang mga luha ko.

"I hope those are tears of joy. Because if not, I will be very disappointed in me. I promised to make you happy."

"These are tears of joy."

"I'm glad they are."

Inihilig ako nito sa dibdib nito. "You are the love of my life, Chinn. Can you feel my heart beating for you? Can you feel how fast it is? It is the same feeling I felt when I realized how much I love you. Both of our past lives are not the best years. Life is giving us another chance to make better memories together. We have a lifetime ahead, Chinn."

Hinawakan ko ang kamay nito. "I look forward to that, Kylo. I look forward to spending my days with you."

As the warm breeze fanned us, it felt like we are breathing in a new life.
