CHAPTER 33

I popped one eye open when I felt the sun hit my face. I moved to stretch my hand when I remembered Chinn sleeping beside me.

I looked down and saw her asleep. Malalim pa ang tulog nito base sa paghinga nito.

I brushed some hair strands away from her face and she didn't even wake. She even snuggled closer. Unlike before, kaunting ingay lang ay nagigising na ito.

She's wearing a shirt of mine underneath but I can still feel  her body. As she told me her story last night, I felt like a garbage. I felt bad for judging her before. For being being cold and unfeeling.

She went through so much. Kiana was probably the same age as her when she experienced being left by her mother and fighting like an animal in some arena.

Nobody deserves to be treated like that let alone a child experience and witness such a thing. Despite her tough facade, the child in her that's seeking family and love is there.

Pinakawalan ko ang sarili ko at umalis ng kama. I fixed my blanket to let her sleep more. Bumaba ako para ipaghanda ito ng almusal.

Good thing we dropped by the grocery last night so we had food in the fridge.

I know basic cooking. Sabi nga ni Nanay Carm ay napeperfect ko ang pagluto ng pancake. So that's what I did.

I cooked stacks of pancake, bacon, and mushroom omelet. As I was waiting for the coffee to brew, I noticed Chinn walking over the counter and grab some bacon strips.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" Bati ko rito. Inaasahan ko ng babalik ito sa dati nitong pakikitungo sa akin.

"I did. Your bed is comfy."

"We can exchange rooms if you want the bed."

Umupo ito sa counter at doon ko napansin na wala itong ibang suot maliban sa shirt ko na umabot sa kalahati ng hita nito.

A scene flashed in my mind. Chinn writhing underneath me as I thrust myself inside her. Damn I'm getting hard again.

"Nah, I'm good."

"Hungry?"

"Famished."

She sipped some of the brewed coffee I handed her.

"This is good coffee."

"The beans came from here. The Cordilleras. They have some pretty strong beans."

She nodded as she started to shove food in her mouth. Hindi na nga niya nabigyan ito ng plato at tinidor.

I just watched her. Wala na rito ang bakas ng takot na nakita ko kagabi. The Chinn I was with last night was the real one.

I came out of my reverie when I noticed her handing me a pancake.

"Eat up."

I went in front of her and ate the pancake from her hand. I slowly ate the pancake from her hand. I even licked her fingers after.

I noticed her swallow as I did it. I smiled on the inside. She's affected by it.

"What are your plans for today?" Tanong nito sa akin.

"I'll have some drinking session with Rizky tonight. I might come home late."

She nodded.

Silence fell on us. Should I be the one to open up what happened last night?

"Chinn."

She looked up at me. She didn't stop me from calling her by her name.

"Last night..." I paused just in case she didn't want to talk about it but no, she was waiting for me to finish. "...was one of my best nights with you. Thank you for sharing your experience. Thank you for trusting me."
