CHAPTER 22

I was busy reading the report sent to me by Willa. Tungkol iyon sa misyon na matagal na naming pinagpa-planuhan. May bagong impormasyon itong nakuha at iyon ang binabasa ko ngayon.

After my mission here, this might be my next big thing. I trained all my life just for this specific mission.

"Okay ka lang Ate?"

I looked up and saw Zeny, Kylo's secretary. Kylo is in some meeting kaya mag-isa ko ngayon sa opisina nito.

"Ay sorry. I mean, are you okay Ate Patch?"

Tumango ako. "Yeah, why?"

"I was about to go out to get some snacks. It's 3PM. Do you want to come with me?"

Pinakiramdaman ko ang sarili. Medyo nagugutom na nga ako. Tumango ako at sumama rito.

"What's with 10AM and 3PM? Why do people eat specifically at those times aside from the usual breakfast, lunch, and dinner?"

Nagkibit-balikat ito. "I grew up with my parents and grandparents doing that. We just do it."

"I like it though. People here love to eat."

"We have this snackbar just a few minutes  outside the capitol. It sells lots of snacks. You should try."

"Sure thing. I love food more than anything."

"You love even more than Gov?"

Napatingin ako rito. "Oh yeah. I always forget that I should love that guy." Boyfriend ko nga pala iyon.

"You two are cute."

"So I've heard." I snorted.

"There's the snackbar!"

There's a stall not far away from us. There's a glass shelf that contained all kinds of stuff.

"What should I try? They look weird to me."

"This is fishball, kikiam, kwek-kwek, chicken ball, calamari, and fried tofu. These ones are to be grilled. This is chicken intestine or isaw, chicken head or helmet, chicken feet or adidas, pork blood or betamax, pork intestine, pork skin, and pork meat."

"That's a lot of stuff. Which do you recommend?"

"All. Everything here is good."

"Don't they come in longer sticks? I can eat one stick in one bite."

Bumungisngis ito. "Matakaw ka nga Ate."

"What is matakaw?"

"It means you eat a lot."

"Ah...well, I won't deny. Give me five sticks each then."

Nag-alangan pa si Zeny na sabihin sa tindera ang order ko pero sinabi na lang din nito.

I sat on a table not far away and waited for our orders. Zeny sat in front of me after ordering.

"The vendor is anxious if you can finish it."

"I think I might order more. Those snacks are small."

Napakamot na lang ito sa ulo.

"So are you enjoying your job? Is Kylo giving you a hard time?"

Umiling ito. "He's a good boss. And he gives incentives to his staff even to the guards and maintenance people in the capitol. Everyone loves him."
