Chapter 21: Complicated Relations pt.1

The Next Day

It was around 11pm when Chris came into Aiko's room. 

Chris: Aikooo!

Aiko: Yeah, what's up buddy?

Chris: Your phone.

Aiko: What about it, buddy?

Chris: Ring.

Aiko: Where is it?

Chris: Kitchen.

Aiko: Can you bring it to me, please?

Chris runs to the kitchen then comes back.

Aiko: Thank you, buddy.

Aiko looks at 3 missed call from Ciara and 4 unread messages. She looks at the messages first.

"Morning, love!"

"I hope you're doing well since you didn't get back to me last night."

"Give me a call when you can. I wanna get brunch with you!"

Aiko called her back.

Ciara: Hi, Aiko!

Aiko: Hey.

Ciara: You sound tired.

Aiko: Uh, yeah. I was sleeping till my son came in with my phone.

Ciara: Oh, you have a kid?

Aiko: God son. His mom is... anyway.

Ciara: Im so sorry to hear that.

Aiko: She's not dead. Just in jail.

Ciara: Oh! Well, I'm still sorry for the boy. How old is he?

Aiko: Almost four. I actually have to order his gifts today. His birthday is next Friday then he starts school that following Monday.

Ciara: Wow, at four?! He must be very intelligent.

Aiko: Yup, gotta love him.

Ciara: Well, I was going to ask if you wanted to get brunch but I see your hands are a little full right now.

Aiko: No, no. What did you have planned?

Ciara: Just a little something, not too big. I could come pick you up if you'd like.

Aiko: Uhh, yeah sure. Could you give me like a hour?

Ciara: Of course, just send me your address. See you then!

Aiko hung up the phone. She's found herself wanting to spend more time with Ciara. She doesn't know why either. 

Aiko got up and put Chris in a bath then took a shower herself. After getting dressed and doing her hair, it was about 10 minutes left before Ciara would arrive. 

Chris: Where are we going, Coco?

Aiko: To eat with a friend.

Chris: Vinnie?

Aiko: No, different friend. You've never met her before.

Chris: Your girlfriend?

Aiko: WHAT No! What do you even know about that?

Aiko was flustered.

Chris: Just asking..

That's when Aiko got a call.

Ciara: Im outside.

Aiko: Alright.

Aiko knelt in front of Chris.
