"Listen here, 1A brat. You promised me a chess game, plus you said you would bring snacks. Don't you still want to win? Don't you want to win the ability to interrogate my quirk or whatever you want with my quirk. You promised you'd bring your mother's brownie recipe."
A pause.
"I was looking forward to those brownies, dangit, green boy. No matter what you will still owe me those brownies and a chess game. You can't get out of it anymore."
He went off into a coughing fit before coming back.
"I won't forgive you if you don't keep your word...I heard you've gone missing. The gossip said you ran away, thinking the hero world was too hard for you. If that's true, then you really are pitiful, aren't you?"
Monoma growled into the phone. He felt upset that--dare he say it--one if his friends was missing. He was sad and he was angry.
As a child he was never able to fully grasp his emotions, so he did the only thing he knew how to do: mock and joke around. May people only saw Monoma as a bully, but he was so much more. Well, that's what Izuku thought at least.
But then again, Izuku was one of the only ones to actually stick around Monoma to fully befriend the blonde. He found out Monoma played chess and was previously chess team captain at his old middle school. It wasn't long until he found out that the best way to talk sense into Monoma was through food either.
So whenever he started taunting Class 1A, Midoriya would chuck a baked good at him to quiet down.
Kendo had been surprised beyond belief.
Eventually 1B tried to throw a few sweets at Monoma too, but that just lead them to a early Recovery Girl visit.
Monoma and Midoriya had a brotherly connection. And whenever Kirishima or Tetsutetsu stumbled on them together, the chances of Monoma having the greenette in a chokehold were almost ninty percent.
But Midoriya was always laughing when they wrestled, so all was well.
Monoma was pissed that Midoriya wasn't around anymore. And if he ran away...then Monoma was going to kill him for not saying goodbye.
But he didn't know how to fully vocalize his feelings. So he said it in a way Midoriya would know.
"You're the only acceptable 1A brat. If you don't come back, I'll never forgive you. And if it's not within the next month, I'm burning your All Might shrine-thing."
Translation: I really miss you, and if you don't come back asap, I might have another mental breakdown.
