Brian's Pov

I opened the door slightly and saw tissues trailed across the floor. I walked in and saw that the tissues led all the way up and covered Genniffer's bed. Her eyes were red. Tear stains covered her face and her hair was all over the place. My heart throbbed looking at her.

"Genniffer come on your parents wanted me to take you to the football game."

"What's the point?" She bellowed out.

"Well first so you can see me and Jaylen play." I sat down on her bed. She groaned at the sound of Jaylen's name. I grabbed her hand and rubbed it. "And so I can hear you sing. I missed your audition so I'm looking forward to it."

"No I lost to those freaking Plastics."

"Yeah but your still singing opening act."

"Exactly opening act for the Plastics!" Genniffer grabbed a tissue and wiped her eyes. I stood up.

"So your still singing. You can't let Victoria get the best of you."

"Ugh please don't say her name."

"Look you can't let her or Jaylen trip you up. By not going your letting them have all your power and control over you. Come on you need to get dressed." I walked over to her closet and looked for something for her to wear. I stopped at this black dress shimmered against the light. It was covered with these black stones that made it sparkle. I pulled it of the hanger and showed Genniffer. "Wear this."

I placed the dress on Genniffer's bed. "I'll give you some time to get dressed." I walked out and closed the door. I slid down the door and sat on the floor. It was really tough to see the her like that. She wasn't herself. She was more like the ghost of herself. When Genniffer is sad nobody is happy. Her friends get sad just from looking at her and her parents get upset because they don't know how they can help. I felt like I couldn't make her happy and ut was the worst feeling in the world. I didn't understand why Jaylen would take advantage of Genniffer. Why would he hurt someone as perfect as Gen.

The door creeked open. I got up. Genniffer looked amazing. She stared at the floor not saying a word. "You look so gorgeous." She shook her head. Her lip curled and she began to cry. She sat down on her bed. I ran over and sat down next to her. I put my arms around her and held her. She cried into my chest.

"It just hurts, ya know." She whaled. I rubbed her hair and comforted her. We laid down on her bed while I held her. Even though Genniffer was heart broken, it was the best feeling in the world to hold her in my arms. I lifted her head up and wiped her eyes.

"Come on we have to go."

Gen's parents dropped us off in front of the school. They thanked me for getting her out of bed. I kept my arm around her waist and walked her to the football field. I sat her down in a chair right behind the team bench. I had to go get dressed for the game. I didn't want to leave her by herself, but I had to get ready for the game. "Don't go anywhere" I smiled. I gave her a hug and went to the locker room. The team came back out and we heard the croud roar. We walked out and took our seats on the bench. I turned around to see Gen. She looked at me and I gave her a smile that told her everything was going to be okay.

A stage was located at one end of the field goals. I could see Victoria and her girls or as Genniffer would call them, 'The Plastics', take the stage with the principal. They welcomed us all to todays game and the girls sang The Star Spangled Banner. They had good voices and I could see why they won. The players took the field and we all lined up. We lossed the coin flip so the defense was put out. I was a wide receiver so I had to go sit; however Jaylen stayed out on the field. Genniffer watched him intently.

Soon enough it was the middle of the game halftime. The crowd roared as both teams left the field and went over to the bench. I walked Genniffer over to the stage. "Your going to be great" I whispered in her ear. Victoria came from around the stage and stood behind us. Genniffer turned away and looked at the ground. Victoria scoffed and laughed at Gen's sadness. The principal came on the microphone and intoduced Genniffer to the stage. Genniffer walked up the stairs and walked over to the microphone. Everyone cheered at the sound of her name. It made me smile real big that I was able to get her to come. She introduced herself and the crowd cheered again. She cued for music and it began. She looked out over the crowd. She looked over at the bench and saw Jaylen, then she looked over at me. I gave her thumbs up and a big smile. It made her smile back.

Genniffer's Pov

I was feeling myself when I looked in the mirror. My hair was looked sleek and my eyebrows were perfect. I applied my lip gloss and left the bathroom. I went into my closet to find something to wear. The first thing I saw was a black dress that sparkled against the light. I smiled at first thinking of Brian. Another thought came along and my smile faded. I pushed the dress to the back of the closet and closed it. Stupid Jaylen.

I went over to my dresser and pulled out some black leggings. I put on a white shirt and covered it with a brown leather jacket. I went downstairs and slapped on some flats. Treyvian was in the living room watching tv. For once he wasn't planning or plotting a drug deal. I sat down on the couch next to him while I waited for my ride. Treyvian looked over at me.

"Where are you going?" Treyvian interrogated.

"Out" I laughed.

"No for real where you going?"

"Well if you must know, Kobe is taking me out to eat."

"Who? That short nigga that took you up to the police station?" Treyvian laughed and looked me up and down. "That's cute two midgets going on a date." I rolled my eyes and shot my middle finger at Treyvian.
My father walked in the room and I quickly hid my finger by the back of the couch. My phone buzzed.

"What in God's name are you doing up at a police station Genniffer?" My father put his hands on his hips amd glared over at me. He looked over at Treyvian for a quick minute then back at me.

"Oh um my friend, Kobe, you remember Kobe? Ya he had to go get something and I came and tagged along."

"Why did he go?" My dad eyed me down in disbelief.

"He didn't say" I shrugged. My Dad grunted and gave one last look at Treyvian and went into the kitchen.

"Thanks for having my back" Treyvian held out his fist.

"Anytime" I giggled. I gave him a fist bump and checked my phone. The message said "Come Outside I'm here." I closed my phone got up ready to go.

"Hold up wait" Treyvian held up his hand and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a stack of money. "You need some money before you go?"

"No Kobe's paying." I assured him.

"Nah judging by how short he is he probably still shops in the kids section for pants. So he probably can't hold much." Treyvian joked. He handed me a stack of 50s. I snatched it away from him.

"He is not that small! I don't understand why you guys hate on him so much." I started to walk away.

"Hey wait why are you going out to eat with him anyway?" I stopped at the door.

"Because it my gift to him for taking me to go free the slaves." I walked out the door.

"Ha! I guess you think you funny." Treyvian yelled. I saw Kobe's car in the driveway. I pranced over and got the passenger's seat. Kobe looked at me and bit lip.

"You look.. stunning." He smiled.

"Thank you" Kobe pulled out of the driveway and we sped off to whatever restraunt he was taking me.
