Genniffer's Pov
"Genniffer you're going to be fine." Aqua patted my back. It was after school. Aqua was walking me to the choir room for the after school practice to sing at the football game. We walked down the hallway. We were almost there. A boy came walking down the hallway going the opposite direction from us. It was Aqua's ex boyfriend, Levi, from middle school. He smiled and waved at us. I waved back, but Aqua just rolled her eyes and looked the other way. We continued to walk for a little bit. I tapped her shoulder telling her that he was gone.
"Ugh Levi" Aqua groaned.
"He is not all that bad Aqua. After all he is the reason why we met." I said.
"Sure"
"Come on I remember it like it was yesterday. I was new to the school and Levi decided took my hand and decided to take me to my first class. You thought he was flirting me and after that you had it out for me since."
"Yeah true. I was jealous. You were new to school and you already had a boy throwing himself at you. And it was my boyfriend. That's how it been since. Boy's, grown men seem to just want to get to know you. You've always had someone Genniffer and I've been jealous ever since. But honestly I'm glad we became friends later on."
"Aqua that's not true. You are beautiful. Trust me everybody can see it. They may not say it all the time, but they think it. Just because people want me doesn't mean it's all for the right things. So trust me Aqua as soon as you realize you are beautiful yourself, everyone else will too."
"Yeah sure. Even now boys like Larron and Tyrell still want you even though you act quiet and depressed." Aqua sighed. We arrived at the choir room door. "Alright Genniffer when I leave you better not take no bullshit from Victoria. If you beat her ass make sure you take a picture for me." I gave Aqua a hug and she left. I entered the room and saw the teacher, Mr. Taylor sitting at his desk and Victoria sitting on top of a piano. Our eyes met for a quick moment then wandered around the room. Mr. Taylor looked up and saw that we were both here.
"Good we can get started." He got up and walked over to the piano. "Now I chose you two because-"
"We're the best." Victoria interrupted. Mr. Taylor frowned and shook his head.
"No Bella Alzheigmer was my first choice. Her voice is just, whew, amazing. Unfortunately she has the flu and you two were the only voices that would be decent enough to fill in her place on short notice. So I don't care if you two are the best of friends or the worst of enemies when you walk in through those doors or on the stage you leave whatever beef out this classroom and off stage." Mr. Taylor sat down in front of the piano and played a couple of notes.
"One last thing. In addition to you guys singing three songs of your own. Both of you will sing the Star Spangled Banner together and sing one song of choice that you two have to decide on."
Me and Victoria exchanged looks. I flipped my hair and returned my attention to the teacher. "You work together or I drop two letter grades on your report card if you make us look like a fool at this game. Understood?" We both nodded our heads. "Good now you guys can spend the first couple of minutes finding your songs and then we will spend the rest of the time practicing the national anthem. Let's get to work." Mr. Taylor clapped his hands and we went to work.
Me and Victoria went to opposite sides of the room and looked for music. I looked through my list of music on my phone. It was harder than I thought. So I started to think of songs that pertained to me. Jaylen popped up in my head and I started to think about this love/hate relationship we had going on at the moment. I didn't like how far apart we are and that we didn't speak to each other at the moment. Then a song came to me. I wrote it down on a piece of paper.
