(28) King Ov Deception

Sonja

"Do you want me to come to the party with me? I really don't want to go without you." Joel said to me.
"Is that what you want?" I asked Joel while he was helping me stack the top shelves in the music store. I was on Easter break since it was April. Patrick allowed Joel to be in the store with me, since he knew him a lot and stuff. I showed him that we had their Violent Pop and their Revolutions albums.
"So baby did you buy our albums to support us?" Joel asked me and I nodded with a smile, I said that I would always support him. We had also placed inventory orders for their new album which was going to be released in July.

"Yes of course, I mean don't you want your girl to support you?" I asked him a smile and he nodded. I turned away from Joel and he pulled me close to him, giving me a hug. Did you ever feel like you had finally found a place where you belonged? That's how I felt with Joel.

All the judgment and insecurities went away, a person like him. God how did I get lucky? I knew that eventually he would have to meet my mum. But I had a feeling that something was going to be off, but I swallowed it.

(Party)

Aleksi and I were catching up laughing, I saw Joel was speaking with Joonas.
"How's it going with Hokka?" Aleksi asks while sipping his beer from the red solo cup.
"It's going okay. You know Joel is Joel. Although things have been going well I guess." I said to Aleksi. I saw Joel laughing with Niko and Joonas. Olli and Tommi would join us later because they were busy working.

I excused myself from Aleksi and headed into the bathroom. But I saw someone familiar appear in the bathroom mirror reflection... Freya.

"So is this who he left me for? Seriously I don't know what he sees in you. The way you walk, the way you dress. Did Joel even say that he loves you?" Freya sneers in my direction. No, he hasn't said those things.

"Don't you have anything better to do then bring me down? Or do you just love to torment me?" I asked her, we were looking at each other.

"I'm telling you the truth, honestly such a shame. He could do a lot better than you." Freya said, while she drags me outside and shows me Joel speaking to a burgundy haired woman.

"Why are you showing me this?" I asked Freya, were my thoughts the king of deception? Was my mind playing tricks on me? I saw that Joel was having fun, unlike me. He didn't belong with me, he looked so free.

"Because...He'll tire of you and that so-called relationship you have." Freya said and disappeared into the crowd of people.  I was tired and I walked over to Aleksi.

"Hey Aleksi can you tell Joel that I'm tired and went home." I told the black haired one, he could tell that my demeanor changed.

"Sure." Aleksi said, while he walked out to hail a taxi and I got into it and got home. I got home, it was only eleven at night, I wanted to shower and sleep at that moment.

Joel

I was searching for Sonja but she was nowhere to be seen. The last person she spoke to was Aleksi and I decided to ask.

""Little man, where's Sonja?" I asked the black haired and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"She went home, she said she was tired." Aleksi said, I looked at him.

"That's so strange. Why didn't she tell me?" I asked him and he shrugged.

"She was a little off, but yeah it is strange." Aleksi said, God , I need a smoke. So I headed out and decided to light a cigarette, did I upset her? Why wasn't  she  answering my texts? God I was worried. I lit up the cigarette and took a drag of the cancer stick.

"My my Joel, I'm so disappointed about your choice of girlfriend. I mean what do you see in her?" I heard the familiar voice ask me, there appeared Freya dressed in a red dress with heels. Of course she had had something to do with this.

"What did you do Freya?" I demanded to know, while she leaned against the red brick wall and her red lips had a smile painted on them.

"Just simply told her the truth that you could do better than her." Freya said, God why does she have to ruin anything good that comes my way?

"Why are you doing this? She hasn't done anything yet you treat her like shit. And besides we ended Freya." I said with a roll of my eyes. I had no time for her little mind games.

"Come on Joel we were good together, it was you and me against the world." Freya says with a sickly sweet voice, bitch what the fuck?

"No we were never good together, now if you excuse me. I have to see my girlfriend." I said while pushing past her. I didn't like her meddling with my life anymore.

"Come on Joel, it was a mistake. Ending things with you." She says, yeah right as if I would fall into her trap.

"Don't you understand? I'll never get back with you. Now if you excuse me, I have to go and see my girlfriend which is Sonja and stay the fuck away from." I yelled shoving past her.

I sighed, hope she didn't truly believe the words that Freya had told her. It began to rain and I decided to check in with Sonja.

Sonja

I had finished showering and decided to play King Ov Deception by Lorna Shore. I opened a bottle of wine and poured it in my glass, recalling all the things that Freya had said to me. Was my mind the king ov deception? I laid on my black rug, while I looked at my phone.

I looked through the photos of Joel and I at the carnival, it was the sweetest date and adorable. I sighed, could she be right? Was he pretending to love me? I mean it reminded me of the dark days that I tried to fit in secondary school.

It could be jealousy and spite speaking, I heard frantic knocking and decided to walked toward the door.
"Who is it?" I called out, it was midnight. I looked through the peephole and there stood a soaking wet Joel.

"Joel?" I asked, while he comes inside and we glanced at each other.

"Sonja? You had me worried sick, why did you leave?" Joel asks me.
"I wasn't feeling well." I whisper telling a white lie.

"You're lying, did you see Freya? What did she tell you?" Joel asks me, while he pulled off his shoes and leather jacket.

"Some things. She commented how I wasn't  your type especially you would tire of me." I explain and Joel grits his teeth.

"God I fucking hated that bitch! Don't listen to her, she's just jealous of you." Joel said to me. He pulls me into a hug, I breathed in his cologne and scent. Allowing his arms to envelope me in warmth.

"You know, you could have stayed out with the boys." I said with a sigh, while Joel picks me up and laid me down onto the couch.

"What and left you alone? You're my girl, I want to spend the time with you. I wanted you by my side." Joel said with a smile, while we snuggled up to each other.

"God you sound so whipped right now." I said resting my chin on my his chest, Joel smiles at me.

"What if I am? Is it such a bad thing?" He asks me, while he placed a sweet kiss on my forehead.

"I guess not. If Freya harasses me again I'll beat her ass." I said with a laugh.

"You better invite me!" Joel said, while I bite my lip and sigh.

"Joel do you mind that I'm disabled and have a walking disability? People always commenting about how I walk and stuff?" I question him.

"Hey...I told you many times that I don't care about that. You're perfect the way you are." Joel whispers, while we were both sat up and he pressed his lips against mine.

"Why are you so good to me?" I asked him, he pressed a sweet kiss on my forehead and then leaves a trail of kisses of my cheeks and then gives me another kiss.

"Because I..." He trails off. My mind was racing  with a million thoughts. What if he didn't want this?  My mind was playing games with me, I loved to call it the king ov deception.
