"Hey baby," Mason whispered, walking into the recovery room that Maeve lay in. "And baby," every inch of tension in his body relieving as he lay his eyes on the tiny sleeping boy in his wife's arms. "Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Mount. Your baby is incredibly healthy, given the circumstances and already ways a healthy 7 pounds. And doesn't he look like his daddy already," a male surgeon spoke with a smile, walking over to the bedside whilst sanitising his hands. "He's got your nose," Maeve whispered with a giggle through he exhausted tears. Mason couldn't help but giggle. Normally, he'd have playfully responded to the teasing, but right now, absolutely nothing mattered. His wife was alive, she was happy, she was exhausted and in excruciating pain, but she knew every second was worth it to lay with their child in her arms. Their son slept peacefully, his tiny fingers already locked into her messy hair. Mason leant in, placing a loving kiss on her forehead, before stroking his sons head gently. "Hey little man," he giggled adorably, tickling his cheeks with one of his fingers, causing the baby to stretch sweetly, before settling back to sleep. "I'm so proud of you, princess," Mason whispered against Maeve's head, placing yet another kiss against her. He was in awe at his wife's strength and beauty as she lay in the hospital bed, hospital gown in tow, her brunette waves messier than normal as her face remained bare and somewhat tear stained. But in his eyes, she was indescribably perfect. A perfect wife, a perfect mother. His perfect future.
