The usual squad meet ups in either Jack or Maeve's room had been shifted for a change of scenery; everyone having met in the communal living room off the canteen.
"I mean I would to be fair," Declan shrugged at the woman in the film they were all watching, 'Grown ups'. He sat on a bean bag leant against the U shaped sofa, Jesse on the one next to him and Bukayo lying on his stomach infront of them. On one side of the sofa sat John, Marcus, Phil and Luke. The other side was seated by Sasha and Jack, and Maeve inside Masons legs as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Mate you'd do anything with a pulse," Jack laughed. As he did, Maeve turned her eyes to Dec, then slowly turned her head over masons shoulder to make eyes at Sasha.
"What?" Mason laughed noticing the girls making eyebrows at eachother, Dec pretending he couldn't see them.
"Huh?" Jack, clueless as ever, chipped in flicking his eyes between them.
"You haven't told anyone have you?" Maeve quietly giggled, leaning slightly off masons lap to whisper in Decs ear.
"Told anyone what?" Bukayo heard, sitting bolt upright.
"Well done, mouse," Dec rolled his eyes. The girls both laughed, the boys all confused.
"What's going on, babe?" Mason smiled to her, genuinely intrigued about what his best friend hadn't told him.
"Go on then," Dec shrugged, folding his arms as he gave Maeve permission to reveal what he'd told his sister that morning, and what she'd then gone on to tell her best friend.
"Our favourite Ricey boy may or may not have found himself a girlfriend," Maeve announced, causing gasps amongst the room. All the boys jumped up immediately, pouncing on him cheering. All except mason, who clapped on the spot whilst cheering. Of course he was happy for his best friend, but he didn't want to move - he was far too comfortable with his love in his arms. She leant further back in to him, the whole comradery in the room becoming a blur as she focused purely on his embrace. His arms were tightly around her middle, his chin resting on her head. As he felt her shuffle into him, he lowered his head, giving her a gentle kiss on the head.
"You alright, beautiful?" He whispered to her between placing kisses upon her.
"I'm abit tired," she yawned, resting her head on his chest and taking hold of his hands that were on her stomach. The lighting in the room was dull yet artificial, nowhere near as cosy as the rooms. But the whole squad in one slightly larger room covered in blankets and some already being asleep, did spread a sense of coziness.
"Do you want me to carry you back to your room?" Mason whispered. "Maeve?" He said slightly louder, moments later with no response.
"Goedenacht, mijn liefde," she mumbled, her eyes already firmly closed.
"God, I love you."
